Hail and well met!

I'm a huge fan of all the bg games and thought I add my grain of salt.
In the previous games there was a huge variety of companions to choose from, which I really enjoyed. Not only did they cover lots of classes, but also lots of the fantasy races. I fondly remember Jan Jansen, Viconia, Her'Dalis, and even Dorn, just to name a few of them. Though some were lacking, they had a wholesome romance making up for it. Rasaad was really cute and Anomen was only decent, if romanced and changed for the better.

Anyways, to get to my point: I notice I miss this diversity a little bit. A lot, to be honest, and mostly when it comes down to the male companions. We have Astarion, but Gale, Wyll and
Minsc (and of course Boo)
are all humans. Maybe it's me being weird, but I'd like to have more variety of companions to choose from. I really appreciate the origins characters and the effort put into them, but I really hope that this won't limit the amount of virtual buddies.

Also, because you anyways already knew
please give me at least Halsin. If Astarion is really as bad as you claimed in the beginning and I won't be able to impact his personality, I don't want him near me and I would love to have someone else who's not a human, who I can simp for...

My second thought is, that it would be great to add something like the rivalmance from Dragon Age II. The Approval mustn't be high, but there could still be a spark.

tl;dr: I'm a simp for Astarion and Halsin, please more divers male companions, and rivalmance is great.

Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to see your opinions!

I don't think they can actually add new companions from scratch to the game at this point. That's definitely a lot of new work.
However,
you can expect a new companion, Karlach, to join your journey at some point in EA. Probably along with paladin class.

IT was and remains incredibly disappointing that Larian had dozens of races to choose from, to represent all types and a varied spectrum of colourful characters... and they choose, for their five splash characters, to give us: Two and a half humans, one and a half elves, and a token Githyanki. It's a supremely disappointing initial cast, in that sense.

Oh how much would I love to have Halsin as a companion. And
Karlach

Thanks for your comment and yes, it's completely understandable. Creating companions takes time and costs money, they need to be written, designed, they need voice acting (I volunteer!) and so one.
Though I don't need them to appear in EA or Act 1 just like
Minsk, Karlach or Helia
I'd settle for Act 2 or full release.

I just think players (and of course myself) would benefit from a more diverse group, to get insight into the lore of the races, for example. I think, it's an opportunity Larian could use - if they have the recourses for it.

This was great Anomen got better attributes and became a decent fighter/priest after doing his quest right. And Viconia changed from evil to neutral if you did the romance right (which was not so easy cause the game did't tell you which answer is right). But to add so many companions in BG3 with voic acting and quests is not possible. Maybe late by DLC.

Maybe some day we get a male figher companion in a cRPG this would be great ;)=

I agree that more variety in the companions would be great. Of course I once again ask for more companions to choose from to make different playthroughs more distinct from one another.

I would like to see a Goblin, a Bugbear, a Drow, a Beholder or Spectator, a Gnome and a Centaur as companions.

I really wish for Solaufein to reappear! He's a fighter, has a decent backstory and had around 130 years to do some more epic things, like overthrowing a matron mother.

A male fighter/barbarian/paladin is really high on my wish list, since I just can't warm up to Lae'zel and I don't want to play as a tank myself...

The lack of companions is the price Larian had to pay for having them fully voice acted I guess.
But with that said I too would like to have a larger pool of companions to select from. Maybe some companions that aren't so... "larger than life", if you will.
