Unlike some people, I don't really have a problem with the Rest system in its current state. That said, I do find it slightly cumbersome managing supplies, and have two suggestions for quality of life improvements that will make the process more efficient without breaking game balance.
1) When we are selecting supplies to use for our Long Rests, we can currently only choose from those in our character inventories. I think it would be much more convenient if the interface would also let us choose from items in our camp storage chest. This would save our characters from having to either carry around a hefty amount of supplies in their pockets at all times or run back and forth the camp chest.
2) It would be much more efficient, in my opinion, if supply items were automatically sent to camp. As it stands, they serve no purpose that I've seen other than as resources for Long Rests, so I always end up sending them to camp anyway to prevent my characters being weighed down. Manually selecting each item to be sent to camp can be inconvenient and gets repetitive. I think automating this process would be more efficient. Of course, not everyone might be on board with such a feature, so perhaps this could be toggled on/off in the options menu.
Also, I haven't gotten around to testing this on Patch 6 yet, but as of Patch 5 I found that if I sent multiple Supply Packs to camp storage, it automatically stacked them. The stacks were too heavy for one character to retrieve from the container and couldn't be split from the container's interface, so they became stuck in storage. A significant amount of supplies were rendered inaccessible and were effectively lost. I hope that this can be fixed if it hasn't been already.
