To keep this short. I think it would be cool to have an dialogue option as a ranger when you speak to Gandrel and another when speaking Astarion about being a vampire.

Am I alone in this?

I agree.
They should also do that for Clerics.

It sort of feels like the player's Race and Class are mostly ignored by other characters, which isn't very good for role-playing, and it isn't immersive either, since they usually do react to the Race and Class of companions and other characters.

I didn't mean it like that. I've seen several interactions with race and class in BG3. I just thought as stated that it would make a pretty funny dialogue to get slapped in the game. Plus there are many dialogues yet to be added, it's EA after all, and what I suggested might be one of those who knows, but if not here it is. laugh

Witchers are known to be Supernatural Monster Hunters. Rangers go more for like the Naughty Troll eating the Peasant Caravans. I think it's more as in Vampires not being a Common Prey for Rangers unless they are some sort of Specialists. Like Rangers don't get to kill a Lich every day for MANY REASONS. You saw how easily Astarion killed that so called "Monster Hunter". I think it would take some Ranger of Drizzt Do'Urden proportions to be able to take on a Lich and probably still need help from a Party.

True, but he's in the wilds, your turf and natural habitat so to speak.
Plus he tries to munch on you. I could see a hunter getting staky stabby happy if you will, and in the current patch you can do just that should the notion take you. I do believe the character you play in-game is skilled enough (plus you do have your party) to kill a full fledged vampire and you'll probably get to do that later (Astarion's Master Cazador).
You could still have the dialogue in there even if you weren't a considered specialist of that field. Also that bit about the caravans got me.

For Tracking/Identifying Purposes i'd agree to some extent but Disposing Capabilities of the Ranger would be Questionable. I think my Main Problem here is tied to the Char being a Low Level Ranger. That's why i think it was kind of Insane of Larian having a Level 1 Party take a stroll on a Mindflayer Ship cruising the Nine Hells in the Tutorial. Because even Intellect Devourers and Imps are not freaking Gibberlings.

Are they?
I mean i allways watched Rangers as some kind of outlander / woodsman ... someone who is more at home in forest, than between people and buildings ... yet posses no magical power like druids do. O_o

Also question ...
It was said here that NPC should recognize us as Rangers ... my question is: How? laugh
I mean if you put three people next to each other ... one of them will be Druid, one of them will be Ranger and one of them will be Rogue ... how would you recognize wich is wich on sight?
Or the same question other way around ... wich class was that Monster Hunter we find in Hags swamp? Was that Rogue or Ranger and why? smile

I meant more if you are a ranger you get this option sorta thing using game logic/dnd logic this is going places it was never meant to go. Definitely my fault though, I'm not the greatest at expressing what I mean probably didn't write it correctly. I'll do my best to clarify here. I do believe you could recognize someone in the same field. Say a woodcutter shakes another dude's hand he knows that he's also a woodcutter by the dude's calluses because his hands are the same. Interaction and if not that conversation. I'll use the dialogue with Gandrel. You start dialogue with him he says "Powdered iron-vine an old hunters trick most monsters will think twice before making a meal of me." You could be like your companion and deduct he's a hunter but unlike your companion say something like brother you're a hunter too as ranger. Transfer all this to dnd logic and slap a perception or maybe an intellect check in there. Now while on that topic let me explain why I see them most as monster hunters. They have a favored quarry often this quarry is a monster and I'll quote from dnd beyond. Warriors of the wilderness, rangers specialize in hunting the monsters that threaten the edges of civilization—humanoid raiders, rampaging beasts and monstrosities, terrible giants, and deadly dragons. I could go further but I wish to stop here with.....Please let me just take us all down to the fact that this is a game you can do crap in games that doesn't make a lick of sense, but it's fun.

Oh i see ...
So you actualy didnt want NPC to "regonize you" as your class ... you wanted option for yourself to introduce to them as your class ...

Yeah, i like that. laugh

Yep, basically. Again I just thought a conversation with Astarion because of your class and who he is would be pretty fun to have in there. My wording really is crap cry
