What skills are best to get and to what level? I find myself saving skill points until I need something because I'm not sure what to "buy."

Id item hardly seems worth it. The items aways need more skill than I have.

I've never been able to open a lock with lockpick, even when I had poured 5 points into the skill. I restored after that.

Anyone have a good distribution for my mage and DK? I had put a lot of DK into one handed melee slashing. I'm not sure he's using it. I had my mage loaded up with too many skills, so I took ID away from her and gave it to DK. But I still don't know what distribution is good.

I guess I have two questions. What skills should I develop for each. Then how many points relatively. Should I try to keep things like repair and ID equal in ability?

I'm in act 2. When will my mage be able to get fireball? Right now I have her with 2 points of Meteor. It doesn't always knock out a group, but sometimes hits more than one. Is it better to meteor (level 2) than to use a beefed up individual fire skill (level 6)? Meteor uses a lot of mana. I have a lot, but two of those will drain my mage.

I like meteor, but my favorites are 'hammer' and 'lightnight storm' <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />

I gave my DK traps seeing level 5 or so and a BUNCH into 2 handed slashing accuracy and damage.

Is it okay to give my survivor sharpen instead of to my warrior? I only ask because I did this by accident long ago and I don't feel like reloading.

Ethereal magic fireball? In Act 3 - either level 5 from an NPC or level 2 in the BF.

For a melee I like almost all points in her weapon - well before the end she hits 10 in death hits.

For a mage I like hammer (as noted above - it is a great spell, paralyzing as well as damaging the enemy) and one mass damage spell like lightning storm.

LOL no one has mentioned the obvious unless I missed it. Cash is fairly easy to get with 1.44 so there is no reason to worry about what skills you may need in a later part of the game. Take what is useful at the moment and unlearn it when you need the points for something better.

Reality is for those who cannot cope with fantasy. Fortunately, I can cope quite well.

I think one major and two minor skills for each character work best. Trying to develop many more skills than that will spread your precious skill points far too thinly.
