I just rolled a sphere into the goblin camp while hidden not so far away and wiped it out. The goblins just shouted at the sphere while running in circles. While funny it seems a weird oversight considering it can be done with any fight including the gith patrol. Who needs barrels when I have a giant indestructable flaming football?

Flaming sphere is a really weird spell. It’s so odd that the game treats it like a character. I’ve noticed that a summoned flaming sphere will regroup with the party at end of combat, like an excitable puppy running towards its master, burning everyone in the process. But this is another level of crazy.
Does the game go into combat mode when the goblins see it? Do they try to attack it at all?

Yeah, it aggroed grove defenders for my, after battle with goblins ended eek

Larian will have get some control over those systemic things. In the new area
after blowing up the rubble I had to put down the fire manually, or escapees running through the fire surface would take it as an act of war. Also why explosive poweder + stones = fire?

Hahaha Yeah. It is like a sentient flaming pet that returns to its master by quite literally steam rolling everything along the way to be by your side. The roller ball can actually be soul-numbed by gnolls making it pretty useless as it needs a bonus action to attack.

No, you just roll the ball into the camp while hiding and when you burn someone the whole camp aggros the ball but cant attack it. They just dash about basically surrounding it, pushing it and calling it names. I am going to stick it in the fireplace at the hags so she cant escape and see if that works. It is hilarious and something to do for a laugh.
