Seems like this is happening more and more to me. I'll be having an interaction with a trader and then leave and one of the party is stuck with a dialog option. When you click on the party member, you see a dialog and it indicates that you were attempting to steal something. The first few times, you can just basically say sorry and the stolen item I assume gets put back, but after a few times, you eventually end up with the options to bribe the person (which can fail), talk your way out (which can fail) or Attack. If you haven't saved for awhile, this can ruin some playtime (and yes I know it's beta and EA - it's still a bug). What I don't know is how it happens. I think it happens if the trader runs out of money and the game thinks that you are stealing back the item that the trader must have paid for or something similar.

Anyone have this happen to them and know exactly what causes it?

It happens all the time to me. It seems to be triggered, when you switch between characters to sell stuff.
So now, I give all items, I want to sell to one character and only interact with that character - that works better.

I keep hearing about it happening, but it hasn't happened to me yet.

...this is how I do all my interactions, so maybe that's why I'm not experiencing the bug.

I also do all my trading via barter. (I can't imagine why anyone would want to use the other option.)

I’ve had it happen where I take something and put it in my characters portrait rather than in the barter section. Seriously the vendor at the Druid village was willing to murder me for an item worthy of a few gold, even though I have been making him rich and he’s been ripping me off for weeks with his high prices.

It seems weird since, it’s easy to do it when you are unloading a lot of items.

At the very least you should be allowed to pay for the item. It is utterly ridiculous a grove of Druids would kill you over a pot lid

Thanks Rag, pretty sure that's exactly what happened. If you double click and are not careful to keep your mouse steady, the bug happens. Just had it happen again, but this time I noticed that the item didn't move over and I had to click on it twice. I think that's when it happened to me.

I don't buy from traders I simply steal all their stuff and move on to the next one. The dialogue thing where a companion is stuck like that happens sometimes to me. I think when an NPC auto-chats you for whatever reason. Then it bugs out in various ways.
