How about a Hypertext wiki / Dictionary for the most important topics in Dialogue History for example (or item descriptions)?

[edit: removed names because spoilers]

maybe just a hover over effect, where at the mouse pointer is a small text box explanation created?

Important people/gods/events/creatures/places/mechanics should have hovertext.

It's better than nothing, but I'd prefer if they brought important things like this up in the story. Like for this, make the reveal come after learning about the Dark Justiciars and why they're bad.

I think hovertext would be great. I think it's a really simple, clever way to get across information that the character should already know. That way you don't have a situation where either the player is left clueless about things that the character should know off the bat, or NPCs are constantly expositing about stuff.

Anything to add more information would be good.

I been suggesting this many times when the subject arises! I think it would be an excellent way to get information across primarily to newer players. c:

Hoot hoot, stranger! Fairly new to CRPGs, but I tried my best to provide some feedback regardless! <3 Read it here: My Open Letter to Larian

maybe also dynamically, when your MC is knowledged / historian or has a high INT the information is a bit different, more in detail etc.?

and a fighter barbarian only gets the standard lore world environmental information?

I don't think that's a bad idea, though I kinda feel like those are things which are better off given as histor/lore rolls.

Why not both, a roll of 1 gets you shar has sth to Do with religion and 20 gives you details and recent events. And in between a mix.

I like the idea of tying in your roll with how complete your encyclopedia is, a lot of games do something similar to that already, but you could set your initail entry's completeness to how well your initial (history)/(religion)/(xxx) roll is.

As long as you get additional rolls in the future each time you encounter [X encyclopedia things]. Possibly with a gradually increasing bonus to ensure that eventually the entry is fully complete. Or there's eventually a book/dialogue that gives you all the information.
