Having finally seen the Shadowheart romance scene and Gale's confession (yes, I am very late), I think it would contribute immensely to how camp scenes look and feel if the characters had a (customizable?) outfit that they wear at camp, with weapons obviously hidden (which the game already tries to do for at least a few camp scenes and dialogues).

It'll certainly be a lot more immersive to see people not wearing armor/travel gear during their downtime, and lying on a bedroll in full plate (or attempting to do the elvish trance) is just plain unhealthy. The dream scenes would look less goofy also, what with no longer holding your lover's hand wearing a metal gauntlet.

Hmm, I do believe that there even are rules in RAW against resting in certain armor types, so yeah. I'll agree. But as Ragnarok said, I believe it would be best to keep it optional. c:

Hoot hoot, stranger! Fairly new to CRPGs, but I tried my best to provide some feedback regardless! <3 Read it here: My Open Letter to Larian

Having to take your metal armor off to sleep doesn't have to be optional.

Being ambushed in the night is a valid tactical element that lets Monks, Rogues and other lightly armored characters have a situational edge over characters who rely on heavy armor.

And it's just another immersion issue. Knights don't wear plate armor 24/7. It's not comfortable. You would want to take it off as much as you can.

I usually sell the equipment of the companions I don't use in my party, but then they stick around at camp in their underwear. They never mention the fact that I took all their clothes, which feels eerily passive-agressive. Oh, your top priority is the tadpole, Shadowheart? What about pants? How do those rank on your to-do list?

So I'm with the OP. Give companions in camp a nightgown or sweatpants or something.

I definitely like this idea. I don't think it's something that needs to be prioritised at this point (hell, I'd honestly even be fine if this was some sort of free, post-launch addition) but having camp outfifts would absolutely add an extra spark to the game.

I like this idea, as long as there are options to the outfits. It's a small thing that would go a long way.

But if there weren't options, then it would quickly get annoying, having to see your character in some outfit you hate.

*

It would also be nice to be able to set up guards during shifts and have random encounters, but I suppose that's a different item on the wish list.

Yes absolutely! Designing the unarmored appearance of your character has been a top wish from day like 1. There way are too many things on the backburner. The idea that something maybe sounds great but shouldn't be a priority. The shelf is practically overflowing with such ideas, carrying so much weight with non priorities lol. This is one of those things that engages the player now, in EA. They need to consider player retention and replay (even in this early developmental stage) a bit more seriously. This sort of stuff pays dividends down the line.

I'd repeat the same basic points made in previous threads, that choosing an appropriate outfit is at least as important as choosing your face or skin tone in a game of this sort. Probably more important to be honest.

If you're wearing armor that is too heavy to sleep in without a feat, then the game should default to the unarmored appearance. Clothing should exist as a thing, and not just be a choice between armor or naked.
We should have more options than just robes.

I feel that the game is missing important elements of character creation and customization that people have now come to expect from modern RPGs, and outfit design is definitely one of those.

I would say keep your immersion, but dont screw with mine. :-/

Choosing to keep your cool armor on all times is one thing, but having regular clothing in the game or more than one appearance is of a different order I think. Armored vs Unarmored like your street clothes or formal/informal wear. Also Under Tunic or chiton vs Naked. Stuff like that allows for more types of immersion and engagement. At this point there is a real dirth of material on that score. Look at virtually any rpg where this kind of material is included and you'll quickly discover that many people love it and sometimes care more about cool aesthetics than even the stats when it comes to outfits and equipment hehe.

It's a bit demoralizing that we don't have an unarmored appearance or a way to choose some basic outfit colors at this point. All the Wizards and Warlocks and Sorcerers are pretty bummed, but this should be a thing for all PCs no matter the class or race. I'm sure there are badass unarmored dwarf outfits one might conjur up that might strike your fancy. Don't leave it for the mods the kill, build this stuff into the base game. This stuff will give the game staying power over time and provides an avenue to demonstrate growth with each new patch or iteration, when we see the new fall or winter fashions on offer hehe. Since char creation is something that players engage with immediately, having an outfit designer as part of that is a thing they can point to and say "See! We're working on stuff!" And then players get excited cause the new Dwarven threads are rad, and then they want to make another run. It's a hook that way. They should definitely make use of it.

I am all for visual customizations regardless. Yeah the last thing you want to do after a day in heavy armor is sleep in the bloody thing. I think in D&D TT heavy armor must be removed when resting so if you are attacked in the night your armored characters would be in their underpants/PJ's.

Hey i want the option ...
But i just want it to stay option ...

Nothing i hated more then when i find out that my Inquisitor in Dragon Age had to change into regular generic shit ... sry i cant call that clothing ... those models were horrible! -_-

I mean it could look good on human, maybe possibly ... dunno, didnt play that thing, unless i had to. laugh
But when they allowed you to create Qunari ... then, via DLC they offered you special Qunari armor (my Horned girl was Mage, so ... i siply dont think there was any argument against her wearing those pants and roped bandages over chest at all time) ... then they allow you to modify your look (some armors) and tune its colloring ...
And then, after you invested all those resources to create your armor, modify your armor, collor your armor ... they strip you and give you some generic shit that looks like its being made for something completely different.
That is just not good experience, dont be mad at me but i simply cant praise anyone for that. :-/

It was even funnier (or stupider w/e) at your starting camp, you were totally able to go outside and fight with some Rams (or w/e that animal was named) ... you were also wearing shield and/or weapon ... but armor was forbidden. laugh laugh laugh

Ambushes would imply random encounters, which is specifically against Larian design philosophy when it comes to combat, so random encounters in general (in the traditional sense, one could argue some current encounters feel random in how enemies jump you if you don't pre-emptively know of their existence). So getting undressed with certain armor types would just create a tedium of re-equipping it after a long rest and generate a point of annoyance. It could be automated, but ultimately ends up null and void.

It could narratively be introduced an ambush like a camp event, but then Larian may choose to infer those rules for that particular moment, which sure could be a fun little challenge. However the rest of it is best left implied to happen outside of the player's tedium.

I've noticed in countless threads over the past year that Larian catches a lot of flak for seeming to prioritize many things over the experience of the Custom PC. Having a more fully customizable appearance for the Custom PC is one way to combat that overall impression. When people mention priorities for what we should see now in EA vs what can wait to be thrown in the bag after the Full Release or by Mods 'eventually', I can't help but feel that they're taking their eyes off the prize. Striking while the Iron is still hot, or at least warm, is never a bad plan hehe. EA is even more reliant on replay and player retention and good word of mouth than the full release or expansions will be. They've chosen this path for development so they should try to lean into it. From the perspective of the repeat player (and that's basically all of us right now) what happens in the first 10 hours of gameplay is way more important than what happens in the last 10 hours. If I launch the game, immediately notice that I now have new Character Creation options, new outfits to choose from, new UI elements or new alt paths in the prologue and in the early section on the beach, then I'm far more inclined to dive headlong into another full playthrough.

You want people to try playing the new Draconic Sorcerer Class for more than a couple weeks? How about letting them actually look like a Blue Dragon Green Dragon or Black Dragon lineage with appropriately colored threads. Now people are excited not just because of what happened with Sorcerers being added, but because they get colors for that and the same on offer for all. Maybe I don't care about Sorcerers, but I love the idea of being a Druid who wears black, and so we get a knock on effect there.

I think they should prioritize Character Creation material above just about everything else right now, not just because I want to see more of that material (clearly) but because I think it will help them to counter the constant refrain that they care more about their Origins than their Tavs, which we've heard repeated endlessly since launch. It's the most common sort of feedback I've heard on these forums over the past 13 months, and while it's a bit of an easy shot to take against the developers, it's also fairly well grounded. Look back at the earliest threads in this feedback section and you'll find a thread asking for stuff like this a year ago on practically every page.

I personally just wish they would concentrate on all characters within their games not ignoring players skills constantly, I'm about playability not looks, this is why I left WoW when it became an Activision barbie doll dress with a horse that glitters competition even though I was in Ensidia or just put other games down in minutes at my age as us old boys are getting, well old (47), the only actual annoying thing about Larian is exactly that, there is nothing more frustrating. For example I am perfecting the Githyanki fight as sorceror so utilise grease bottles so they will not move where I want, then minor illusion to group them and throw my last void bulb in order to utilise my cloud of daggers, the Gityanki ignore the void bulb, ignore surprise as it was an attack as I had actually hit one then to top it off ignore thunderwave on the next turn and the grease all over the floor, then proceed to silence me as of course they don't miss. It's been the same every game they've done, somebody can't do maths or program the characters right along the lines in the original team and they need to weed that out as it has been the same all along as all the die can't roll against the player, never had that constantly when I played DND. I can't be more honest as 2017 is a long mile gone and due to the success of sin 2 you aren't a little indie forgivable cuddly bear anymore we forgive for that, it's time to shape up not measure suits.

We have a saying amongst PC users, Look after your PC ,and That's what I've done and I've maintained it for 20 years, this old PC has had 17 new Cards and 14 new Boards in it's time and it's still the same PC

Optional only. Best way to implement this would be for us to find more outfits and then we have the option to change into them if they are in our inventory (or pull them out of the camp chest) much like we can choose what to eat now. Would let those of us who sleep in armour continue to do so and those who wish to change also be able to do so, you just have to remember to do it.

Maybe they could make an object that, when activated, allows you to choose what you wear in camp during cutscenes and during sleep.
