Ok I know i have brought this subjet on before and it's a bit early for talking about <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />². But better bring this up now in case I forget it or if I am to late. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />² needs more babes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> When you look at the E3 website of Blizzard of WOW you see this beautifull elf on the site. Or when you look at the website of bloodrayne you see the same *nice <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />* grafics and who could ever forget about Tombraider. This is a huge publicity boost IMHO. So for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />² I would like to see the return of the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> angel that was on the cover. How much I love <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> I can't help but wonder if the game would have even more publicity and sales if the DK was soulforged with blonde female warior or mage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> For some reason 2 guys chained together does work for me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> Personally when I bought <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> it was because it was an eye catcher in the store and sreccondly because I am a RPG fan. The grafics lured me away from other games Now personally I had some problems with killing of kiya(the witch) in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> (She's hot <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />). But maybe theire could be some positive NPC in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />² that are more aesthetically pleasing then other NPC. Or maybe a Blond female warrior summoning doll. (female blond doll (*Morbo hides from females on this forum*)) These are not demands but just suggestions that I hope you will at least think about when creating artwork and the 3D models for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />². PS: gargoyles don't count

If you want something more fantasy-oriented, check Boris Vallejeo or Luis Royo.

But it would be a nice extra. it's not like I want to it to be a priotity. The gameplay and story must come first. I am only saying that when i visited the WOW website I was impressed by the beautifull graphics and reminded me of the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> angel *sigh I miss my girlfriend <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />*

Really , That is something what would really attrack me to buy this game if I didn't know it already. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> Serious now , I would really be disappointed if Larian would start using blonde barbie-alike females . They didn't for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> neither for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" />. I really would be shocked if they would start with using those stereotype kind of characters. It is just perfect like it is now . And of course it is not because you play divinity that you have to like babes and if you get your blond girlie I want a sexy Chippendale too *Child modus on* <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />.

No matter who's opinion here on the board, it is a fact in the advertising world that "Sex Sells" ask any ad person and he/SHE will agree <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> Personally I must agree with Morbo about the Div Angel, it was a masterpiece of art it fitted the title wonderfully, and to this date when it pops up on my theme changer desktop, I goggle <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> It is also a fact in the above industry that beautiful women help sales of any product. If however we are just plain talking about "eye candy" I have a distinct feeling that when Div2 comes out you will be able to do wonders with the toolset,<<- which has to be the latest craze to hit the gaming fraternity> and thus becomes a necesity for most games, in particular the CRPG variety. So robust muscly males etc, will be able to D/L a mod, within no time from the fan community, I think it took morrowind all of 2 weeks after release for some guy to put a nude pack together, and the same goes for NWN. IMHO I think it will answer most of the questions and/or arguments above <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Well, it ain't "sex sells", but rather "face sells". I well remember the thing when the cover for homeworld 2 was changed by some marketing team to include the commander of the ship - Mrs. S'jet. To me, it looks ugly and I'd liked to have a cover with starships instead, but some marketing guys said that a face would attract more buyers - why they had changed it. You can see it in different places, and "babes" are just another example for that. People, faces, emotions, humanity. "Body sells" ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

Well indeed I was suggesting that sex sells. (just look at tripping the rift (six => hababa). I don't want this game to turn in to the sims. But it would be nice to hav reviewers praising the grafics. (content in grafics is also important). I read a review of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> praising the nice angel on the cover. So why not for <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />²?

Yeah right. If Marian puts blonde *babes* on the cover I will get really <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" /> (Sorry Morbo). There are women gamers too you know. And personally I do not find blonde *babes* fascinating... If it was for a DK stripped naked then we could talk... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> Anyway yes sex is selling, but it comes in a total contradiction to the atmosphere and the idea of RPGS. The fact that the armors and the robes are pretty sexy (for the female chars) it is I think enough. I remember when I pleayed Lesure Suit Larry (sp?). I know it is an adventure game but you will get the idea. If it was not for the humor in that game, I would puke all the way through it with the way women were presented there. Personally I liked very much the Sacred adv. That elf face (the ava Barta uses if you have noticed) was really nice. After all I think that men who play rpgs, do not like ordinary women <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Putting beautiful, half-naked women on the cover would be sound marketing plan, certainly, but it would also be catering to the lowest common denominator. Not to mention that it'll only make the already-awful stereotype of "those losers who read fantasy/play RPGs" worse. I also find half-naked fantasy women ridiculous, since going into battle wearing chainmail bikini and high-heel battle pumps would get you killed pretty quick. Earrings would let enemies grab you and cause you great pain; ditto for long hair. Lack of sword sheath -- because these bikini-chainmail girls never have one -- is simply impractical; ditto for lack of backpacks/pouches/etc. Women with figures like stick with melons glued on will simply not be able to lift a sword, much less swing one. (Hello, people: steel swords are heavy. Swinging one hurts and will callouse your hands to boot.) Petite women would suffer from lack of height (and therefore reach, although being short can let you get into your opponent's guard, but that's neither here nor there, because I'm going into the actual physics of fencing/swordplay). Yes, I may read and write fantasy, but I prefer to stay within a reasonable range of reality, thank you. Additionally, I thought the woman on the cover of DD was... less than... appealing to look at, but that may be just me. I can't help but wonder if the game would have even more publicity and sales if the DK was soulforged with blonde female warior or mage. What? You can play a female character, you know.

i'd like my game without sleaze please. but if done tastefully or maybe tongue-in-cheek, i might like it.
maybe it's better to leave the sexual content & suggestions out as it may leave really bad taste in the mouth for some & there may be those who will ask for more: in amount as well as variety (homosexuality, S&M, etc). in the end, the game will get sicker & sicker, just to sate the demands which most often do not increase gameplay level or immersion.
anything that doesn't add to gameplay or atmosphere just doesn't add at all.

Morbo, sex may sell in some cases - but I think keeping glued to a game needs more. And as the female gaming community is an increasing market - this might put some off => well, it would put ME off. And blonde is a matter of taste, in fact. It's plain stupid to send a scantily clad, heavy bosomed female out to fight IMO. Same goes for very muscular figures (e.g. gladiator in Sacred) - he was so ugly and disgusting for my eye, I couldn't have taken him as a char <shudder> tongue in cheek "sex" => making fun of gender roles e.g. is what I like also, Tovi <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> As for Leisure Suit Larry, Luc => I puked right at the beginning and uninstalled it - I couldn't keep to the riddles, because I was aggravated 80% of the time and would have loved to kick the Devs, preferably where they kept their brains => between their legs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" /> I think game development should go more to the mature side and not "support" adolescent "wet" dreams. Leisure Suit Larry ... I didn't like that games. To dull for my own taste. But anyway, I like Al Lowe's humour very much, especially since he has his own homepage : www.allowe.com . <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> And I agree that the cover of a game should be made in order to affect rather the desired fraction of buyers than instead try to catch everyone. That's partly what I had against the cover of Homeworld 2 as well.

Lucretia, Leisure Suit Larry doesn't make fun of women in general, as you probably noticed, there's only ONE type of women in the game. Also, I couldn't say that men are presented in a glorious fasion <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. Anyway, it's your typical MALE game.
Nevertheless, the best adventure games are Quest for Glory and Monkey Island.
I agree with you, Winterfox (in fact, my father told me the same thing when I watched Heavy Metal 2000 but I already figured that out). No doubt Boris Vallegio is a great artist but I am not fond of the theme nor I read Heroic Fantasy (or Epic Fantasy as called by some). I'd rather read A Song of Ice and Fire and Terry Pratchett.
As for DD and BD cover... I can't say they're the best ever. They aren't bad, though. In fact, I haven't seen many excellent gameboxes except... Arcanum (pulp magazine-like), all Bioware games (KotOR or the simple but straightforward NWN), Freedom Force and Deus Ex 1 (Deus Ex 2 was rather bad).
