As sorcerer is my favorite class, here is a small note on the metamagic choices.

For an Early Access, the choices are fine as they have made me try some various combinations. However...

1.For the full release, I think it would be great if they do not make me choose between Subtle Spell and Quicken Spell.

2. Silent spell is a bit lackluster now but I guess there could be some advantages while stealthing (or casting a spell should break stealth, maybe?) from Subtle Spell + it is likely that silence effect can be one of the disadvantages from a wild magic surge.

3. Quicken spell can become potentially OP if it allows two spells (and not just a cantrip + spell). Now it works fine but once spells such as fireball enter the fray... The same can be said about the haste effects allowing the casters to cast two spells in a round. I am not sure if this can be programmed easily but it is desirable to do so. Even the cantrip /weapon attack/action + spell combination is very powerful, which does make Quicken Spell one of my favorites.

Personally, for the full release, I would not mind being stuck with the metamagic progression from the 5e rules. But my main problem is the need for more freedom with the metamagic choices.

Hey Scales, these are valid concerns that others have picked up on as well. A little while back I made a thorough analysis of the Sorcerer class implementation, and cover metamagic and the problems Larian have created as part of that. You might be interested in having a read: Focused Feedback: Sorcerer

Thanks. I looked at your post... I think it has some valid arguments (though it will require a different discussion altogether). However, I am really happy they stuck with more or less mechanic effects. See, in my case my character is a drow (with slight necromantic tendencies) who can be really terrifying at times so too many silly effects might spoil the immersion a bit (esp. if they do not translate into mechanic effects like spells; for example I can understand transforming into a sheep or a squirrel but the whole thing about changing height, growing beard of feathers, losing your hair and etc. requires extra programming and is a bit silly in a computer game). Had it been a tabletop game, I might have even discussed with my DM transforming some of the effects into darker fluff effects. I mean I can compensate with my imagination but so far Larian has not even made it necessary. In general, I am neutral to positive on the way the wild mage works so far in BG3.

I have digressed a bit. My point was mostly about the metamagic of the sorcerer. I might resurrect your thread once I have time to go through everything in more detail. smile

The main pro of Silent casting, as least in a computer game context, is being able to cast when Silenced, I believe. Depending on enemy make up and AI thst could be a big pro or a small pro.

Cone to think of it, I kinda wanna try a Sorcerer/Cleric combo now. Cast Silence on the enemies with the Cleric, then burn those Sorc spell points to not give a damn.

I really hope Sorcerers get option to add Silent spell as yet another bonus in conversation, to negate effect of casting spell on NPC ... it would be incredibly OP when combined with Friends. :3
