It's very simple.
West-Europe is more eastern than North-America.
So West-Europe is "ahead" of North-America.

If you travel along with the sun -east to west- you "gain" time, if you go fast enough.

Carrie, when you come to Europe. You'll "loose" time. Becouse it's later in Europe + you have to ad the time you spend travelling. You'll have to set your watch forward.
You'll move foreward in time without aging. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> On the other hand... you "loose" those houres.

Let's say you leave 4am your time. At that same time it's 11am in England and Ireland. To keep it easy let's asume your trip takes 4 houres. So you arive in Ireland at 3pm local time. Where you live it's 8am at that time.
So eventhough you travelled only 4 houres you moved (3pm - 8am)7 houres forward. 3houres of your life have just "disapeared".
