I'd like to play Carmageddon 2. Stupid thing won't "run under Windows NT". I've got XP. Stupid black & white decision. What am I going to do with that purchase now?

I'd like to try Neverwinter Nights, but I think I'll wait for the three pack to be released. I wonder how many expansions they'll make for it? All they can really do now is add more races and prestige classes. I doubt they'll go into other eras.

well the thing with NWN is .. that there are many 'excellent' modules available, made by some very talented ppl, if it wasn't for the fact that I liked the idea of I would probably be playing NWN day in day out, and now with epic levels (capped at 40) that will take some time to get too even playing solo on a PW, so really it is an never ending story

I've been trying to get into D&D for ages, but every game I try to enter ends up getting dropped or something. I just don't feel like paying $50 for the game, +$40 for the Prestige classes, +$40 for the epic classes...

For the price of three game you are buying one, .. neverending

I am planning to start playing NWN one day. This game was discussed a lot of times. What would NWN guru suggest for a newbie like me? Skip NWN campaign and play addons only (like shadows of Undertide)? Thanks.

I can't play NWN anymore..since I gave my mother my graphics card. The one I have now can't handle it. I'm having no luck with computer games lately.

So I've been playing games on my PlayStation 2. Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy X for the second time.

Well I am certainly not a 'NWN Guru' but you will need the Original NWN before you can play the expansion packs

@HandEfood; Err there's now a gold edition available that includes NWN OC and the 1st exp (SoU)
see here so that would save you some dough, but as Egin said it is neverending due to the oooh 20.000 modules available on the net, and some, like Adam Millers ShadowLords campaign are simply outstanding

Yeah, but I'll wait for all three to come out. Thanks though! There's other stuff coming out soon that'll keep me satiated.

@HandEFood: With the exapansions for NWN a lot of what you get is for people who use the Aurora toolset to build modules. Thinking of it that way, you get a new 20 hour single player campaign. Plus, you get 3 new tilesets for the toolset and a bunch of new creatures to add to your modules! As MeaCulpa said, there are a lot of great fan made modules out already. NWN gives you a lot of bang for your buck if you can look past its flaws. Some of the player made modules are better than the "official" ones.

My opinion of the games flaws:

No real party. Henchman is no substitute

Dodgy performance from an engine that doesnt deliver as much graphiclly as others that run 10 times faster. In my case this seems to because of almost constant hard disk access.

People have complained about the plot but I had no probs with it. I didnt encounter and game stopping bugs either!

The question I ask myself is : How hard or easy is actually using that editor ? How hard or easy is it to build my own campaign ? And : Must I stick to the rules (rule-set) or can I completely waste it and use another ?

As long as you have some documentation, you can create a campaign in a pretty short period of time. I don't know about modifying the rules, so I won't say anything. I had the game for a while and I remember that the editor is pretty friendly.
