Correct, but I missed my pesky, cheeky, cheery half-sister from BG 1 - she turned into a whiny whelp - I was used to nagging Jaheira, but my sister? I wanted her to be the same as in BG 1 <pout>

Boo and Minsc? Nope, I had them in my troop, wouldn't miss one tiny minute without them . Ah, I was just too attached to the chars from BG1, how they were designed. So, I didn't take the changes very kindly - and I didn't like all that love story stuff. Minsc was the only male I had all the time. I needed Keldorn for a while, but I didn't mind him returning to his family - and as for the traitor... no emotions for him either. In fact I mourned just like Jaheira for dead Khalid throughout the game and for Dynaheir, though Minsc took Aerie as his new witch.

BG was a hard lesson for me: Don't get too attached to chars, spoils fun in the next part.

I'd see this as a design weakness : The designers of the game didn't take this into consideration for the second part.

Nope, Alrik, I see this as my gamer weakness: getting too attached, wanting no strong change.

I think the designers had all the right to make the changes.

I remember Lands of Lore 3 => I played it until the last chapter started, then I stopped, was unable to continue. All old comrades (NSC) were dead or dying in a very cruel way, and I as a gamer could not help => too strong attachment again => uninstalled.

I know, these are only pixels, not really living persons - but even though I don't like changes - I think it's a quality of designers creating a world so lively that I (gamer) really develop emotions and lose myself in this world.

Same prob with Spellforce now: I love a female fighter NSC very much. As she is only lvl 14, she's far too weak and I do have stronger chars - but I can't part with her. I have given (maybe wasted) her the best armour, weapon, protection I could get for her - but I have to keep watching her closely and take her out of the hard combats at the moment. That's really not professional gaming, correct? I can't blame designers for my emotionality.

that's a typical problem faced by all sims. pixels are sentients.

Hmmm... myparty was:

My main character
Anomen (yes he was irritating, but he could sure kick [nocando]!)
Minsc (with the Lilarcor, of course)
Keldorn (though my main character was already a Paladin, Keldorn's True Sight and Dispel Magic were invaluable)
Imoen (for thieving and magery)
Aerie (for heavy artillery)

So the only one I kept from BG was actually Minsc. I never liked Jaheira, both from a role-playing standpoint and from a game-point of view. I didn't mind Khalid dying (such a whiner), and I never used Dynaheir much, so no worries there.

Currently I'm playing stronghold, was as a supplement (right word ?) in a german gaming mag. Very nice, very addictive, but not so deep in economics as the Seddlers (Settlers ?) (Die Siedler).

If you want silent, mediveal sounding, addictive music, especially for meditation, I'd recommend the soundtrack, to be found somewhere at Take 2 (maybe the FTP-Server).

Oh, Stormrider - Anomen? Yuck... - my main char was a female paladin, you can imagine how much that arrogant guy got on my nerves! Nope, that world was too small for the 2 of us
my Char Mari (female paladin, Undead Hunter)
Aerie = magic
Nalia (couldn't leave her alone after she had lost her land and her freedom for a while => mage/thief)
Jaheira for healing
Minsc (without Lilacor => was that chatty sword?) fighter
and a changing char => Keldorn for a while, Haer'Dalis for a very short and painful while for him - Yoshimo, Cernd, Viconia, Imoen (beginning/end)

On PC, I just finished KOTOR (good game but really to small and linear) and PoP3(very nice, very easy, but boring) and now playing Beyond Good & Evil (and of course )

On PS2, I just take some fast brake with winning eleven 7 or SSX3 while my favorite game is ICO

Yeah I had to restrain myself from killing him too. My character was also a female paladin, and I believe that at times I heard her mutter under her breath: "Forgive him, Lord, for he knows not what he does"

Yes, Lilarcor was the chattering sword. Somehow I think it was designed especially for Minsc. "Wanna go kill that over there? Come on, let's kill *sumthin'*!"

besies yosimo, hes the only thief in the game. I know Nalia and Emoen have thief skills too, but they've multiclassed and lost good thing in that.
