I used to think the same way. I also play a warrior. But now that I am higher level, and more importantly have equipment that gives resistances, I can kill almost anything that moves with just my sword. There are just a few expections.
The key is the resistances. I have a 98 spirit and 102 poison. So, Liches, ghosts, wraiths, spiders, bees, wasps, and dark corpses all cannot hurt me. Even the "boss" liches I kill with a sword and don't even take any damage.
And for the physical damage attacks, my armor is all at least 200 (except shoes at 150). That soaks up alot.
Really the only things that give me problems now are Mutated Forrest Spiders, and named characters. Anyone know what the mutated forrest spider's attack is based on? Not that it matters anymore, I have already killed them all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
