My little girl Farrah - as in Pharo...but i couldn't name a girl that! But that is where the inspiration came from(well, she is not so little...she is 3 now) but, when she sleeps with me, she will curl up right in the curve of my hip. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The other one (Seamus) sleeps in your arm, with his paws stretched out by your face.
Romeo, was beaten when we adopted him, and is still kinda a scardy cat, but will sleep on the edge of the bed.

Have the vet check for his teeth regularly, if he is an adult, Faile. Some red cats have a genetic defect when it comes to teeth diseases. And what about Feline AIDS? Was he tested? (Blood test)

It's good he can sleep next to your heart - they need it to feel comfortable (heart beat). I've got mine in bed, too. Nothing compares to fur against skin... The best way to win their heart. Yeah, and I would love to hear the name you'd give him. Names are important IMO, reveals a part of their soul and behaviour, or your attitude towards him.
Kiya

Wishing both good luck, a long happy life together and love.

If it is anything like our SPCA...they are all checked for their health...so she may not have to worry about that.

When we got the 2 from the SPCA, you pay 100 dollars. When you pick them up, it comes with a free first check up at the vet, their spay/nutering, and micro chipping.
It is a wonderful place to get them.

I agree completely with Carrie and kiya.
A little freind would be great for him. But I dunno if you are allowed to keep more pets in your new appartment.

And what kiya said is just why I couldn't come up with a name. You have to give it a name that suits him. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> It's for the rest of his life. Just don't call him tiger or so, I hate when ppl do that to cats. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
No two cats are the same. I'm sure you can come up with something.

I had a one just like it, our cat had youngs, and he we kept, the others where given to friends.

We called him 'Amadee' he was A light shade of orange, and ha blue eyes in the beginning.

Unfortuannaly, he distincted himself to much, so the whole neighbourhood smelled like 'amadee' we had to set him free on a farm <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

The mother younged a second time, we kept again 1 kitten, but both of them dissapeared 1 night, prolly a mad neighbour caught them because he had birds ... The neighbourhood filed a complaint, apperently another cat came home, and died autopsie prooved poison. What happened we don't know, but his birds are gone, and we don't see him anymore maybe he left.

We have A new kat and new kittens again /D

thank you to everybody for thoughts and advice! last night he went crazy chasing something only he could see. then he attacked my feet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> but he is smart, and knows not to use his claws when he attacks us. he slept next to me again last night. aww, the cutie. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

My kitten does the same thing, only it chases it's own shadow <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> they're so cute!

Don't forget kittens get cats, cats aren't that cute, and mostly get less social ... From the many Cats I had we had only 2 who came to sleep on my lap, well most of them tried to get under my sheets but when I was awake and they wanted to sleep they did the same so...

anyway treat it good, kittens are wonderfull and endangered species they are in homes, but not in the wildlife anymore, same goes for some dogs, the not breeded ones ...

I have been very fortunate with my cats over the years... they have always been lap-sitters, and one was even a shoulder-sitter (which meant of course that he could stick his cold, wet nose in my ear very easily!)

If you want to be armed against kitten's cunning, manipulative ways <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />, see if you can find of copy of The Silent Miaow , "a manual for kittens, strays, and homeless cats. Translated from the Feline by Paul Gallico."

Hah. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
That was comforting. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
I was under the impression that I was the only one enslaved by his cats. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Cat care in Japan is extremely expensive. Cat food, cat bed, cat toilet, cat toilet absorbent paper, cat hygiene tools, cat tree, cat entertainment toys, cat hair comb/ collector and cat hair dressing .... an endless list. Then our dear spoilt angel would lie on the carpet and demand affection; she could become very noisy and demanding if we were late cleaning her toilet or serving her food, and we usually do not dare being late. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I can catch them, I just sit idle somewhere close and then.... COTHA! mostly they just sit in my arms and after 1 minutes they are bored and jump off... using their claws. I had 4 kittens 2 already moved, 1 is real fat 1 is thin ... the fat always pushes the others away, I have to feed them sepperatly.

i had alot of cats also.
about 30 cats in total in my live.
and it didn't matter if it was a man or a womans cat i called them all "kitty".
now kitty in duch isn't th esame as kitty in english because otherwise i would calaled them "poes"

anyway after a while kitty 16 give birth to 5 lovely kittins called kitty 17, kitty 18, kitty 19, kitty 20, kitty 21.

and cats have this very special skill, i call it cutetiness (level 5...)Soo we disides to keep them all...
-> 2 mounts later it was choas! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />
they kitties weer bound in a sort of kittys gang. terorizaing the neughbourhood.
we had alot of mice in the neighbourhood, and they all laying at our back door!!!
soo we had to donate alot of them to other people, because the neighbourhood also anounced level 4 of the security alarm (= we are at war)

sniff... but i will miss them !

he got tested for feline leukemia, not sure about aids. he was neutard(sp?) at the shelter, where he also got a micro chip, but that cost 10 dollars. i'm taking him to the vet next tuesday, and he'll get a free exam.

The best cat I ever owned used to do things like feed himself. He would find a way to the top of the shelf and knock the cat food off. Once it was on the floor he would eat all the bits that had fallen out, then he would put his paw inside and pull the food out one piece at a time and eat it. It was so funny to watch that he always got away with it without getting in trouble <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
(I felt like yelling at him but I just couldnt <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />)

Perhaps you were stopped by your feeling of guilt for starving your cat to the limit that he has to manage his food by himself; or that there is no communication language between you two.
My cats usually talk to me because I manage to understand them, occasionally My wife and I would depend on each other to fill their food dish with cat food and if Mimi finds no food she comes right up to me and meow to follow, she then goes to her food dish and I realise what she wants. Opening doors is done similarly and that is why I know I am a cat slave. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

NOT feed him? The fatty. He ate too much, thats why I put the food way up. He still found a way to get to it though. I didnt yell at him because he was so funny and I respected his intelligence in finding a way to eat even though I tried to stop him <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

the dog i had while growing up had a neat trick for food- he knew he wasn't allowed to eat food that was on the table, but if it was on floor it was all his. one day there was a piece of toast sticking over the edge of the table. he carefully bumped it with his nose until it fell off the table, then he snatched it up and ate it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> all we could do was laugh.

anyway, back to kitty- he's still being cute. i let him out of his room today so he could slowly get used to the rest of the apartment. he ran off and disappeared. i could hear him meowing, but i couldn't find him anywhere. finally i found him- he was in the bathtub. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kitty.gif" alt="" />

Lol!

Kittens frustrate almost as much as they make you smile. A friends kitty got itself tied up in a ball of string and stangled itself once. My friend stood there like a dumb ox so I had to cut the string off and give the kitty mouth to mouth. It was ok though, a little wary of string after that thank the gods, but ok <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. Honestly, the things you go through for pets <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
