Oh, I'm good at loud clapping - ok. Cujo is in for water <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> - but don't call him by his name. What is he looking for on the stove and on the counters? Have you figured this out?

Tapping on the nose is usually what the mother cat does to educate their youngsters. But if you use it too often, they get scared of your hand. I'd be careful with that. Try to find out what he's looking there for and then distract him by showing the more appropriate place for what he wants. Is it food? Then put him in front of his bowl, stroke him and show your appreciation if he eats. The prob with cats is: you have to show more stubbornness than they have.

Counter: Does he want to have a good overview? Then show him the windowsill.

Is he bored and trying to get your attention by playing nuisance?

Punishment: find out what he really hates. My Kessy hates to go outside. So, if she doesn't obey and tries the same thing several times: I pick her up and put her outside in spite of her mewing. After about 15 minutes my Lady is peaceful again.
