Well, Fallout is a game in a postnuclear world with radioactivity (fallout <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> ) in several parts - it's not fantasy, that's correct - and you fight with modern weapons, no magic. But the combat method is turnbased and very complex. Kiya

Is there a point you are trying to make? The links to Bioware and Black Isle, show only a subset of the games they made. And are you trying to say something with the screenies? (1) I was trying to help clear out the messy issue of who made what concerning developers in relation to games. (2) I already made a trainer for the demo to expose the fabulous graphics of the items. I think I found a way to make this game playable and I shall buy it if I could and hack it. This game is setting the parameters of the foes/ enemies with a limit value set at “11” for some attributes to challenge your avatar beyond any of its max {10} but the total points of an enemy is set to 40, which is one less than your avatar’s total ability points. Skill-points per level are intelligence dependant, so you want to max that, but strength is critical to make it through and you also want to max that, then you want to max your agility too or the foe shall kick your butt, then luck turns out to be critical for critical kills and lock-picking. You end up wanting to max all your ability points to be able to barely survive. So I figured out that a total of 77 points with 11 per ability is required to put you on the right status to survive on normal difficulty bases. If you examine the screens you shall see an exaggerated cheat to show that it is possible and I may buy an item at 125 gold pieces and then sell it back at 25000 gold pieces, no problem, nothing real, only fun. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It is fun making tools like that, but I always find making it more fun than using it. There is nothing more boring than an overpowered character.
As to developers making what. BIS made Planescape:Torment also, not everybody likes it but for me it ranks still at first place.

As far as I know, Reflexive made ZAX which was the first 3d engine made in-house. If you hack Lionheart’s demo, search for Zax and you shall find it inside the code. Reflexive developed Lionheart, but Interplay (BIS) published it. (recap). The same goes for one of Baldur’s Gate productions and not all of them. You see, games are like movies, where there is a producer and a director, etcetera. I am sure that Baldur’s Gate was not all developed by one entity, but I do not know if it all uses the same engine or not, yet most probably not. Kindest regards. about the game lionheart, i'm currently playing the full version & so far, quest-wise, it's all good as the quests are varied enough 2 be interesting & subtle enough not 2 make them obvious kill-this-dude/get-me-this-item runs.
combat-wise, it's UNwise 2 make it too frantic & punishing, hell even for melee characters on some points. so that means truly dead for mages. fyi, i'm playing mage at the same time & currently in the sewers fighting unusually tough low level critters.
even with the combat scalable to your character's competency(level), u can somewhat create a better character with better stats by exporting your character in the demo & play it inthe full version. that's how i avoid playing level 1 mage character which i think will find hell early in the game.
true that barcelona is the only major town with montaillou(?) & another town(forgot the name) being significantly smaller. somehow the quests & dialogues saved the game(in my eyes). item-wise, there isn't any item so far that deserves oohs & aahs. lionheart seems more skill-centric than item-centric like diablo series, which i find is a relief as well as a tad disappointing(no uber items).
in fallout tactics, max limit for S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is 30 which is described as heroic. i don't know about lionheart but i feel it may not be the case as u can always export your character & play the game again.
note: SPECIAL = Strength Perception Endurance Charisma Intelligence Agility Luck
so far with my unarmed feralkin aptly named chris benoit(canadian wrestler dude who's nicknamed wolverine, i hate wrestling it's fake but u don't care) can kill any enemy without much problem, yep, not even daevas(boss characters) but i have 2 watch out for his resistance. a bit of tribal path upgrade can help, i guess. still, i have about 120 skill points 2 spare for this level 21 dude.
another gripe is that when u are in a middle of a fight & a cutscene sequence occurs, your character stops fighting while the enemy pounds u while Da Vinci takes his time telling u stuff, not acknowledging the fact that u're being slashed 2 death & his words don't mean sh*t soon. of course u can stop the sequence by hitting Enter but u lose the info conveyed. u can still refer 2 the dialogue logs but u will definitely miss the spoken dialogues. sad....
i hope the 'patch' will rectify those major problems. as for the stoopid character animation, there is no hope. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

BIS publishes the game and added manpower, knowledge and QA and the producer. Baldur's Gate was developed by Bioware and they made the Infinity Engine also. BIS again published that game and added manpower, QA and the producer. They got the engine from Bioware and used it in Planescape and the Icewind series. All of the BG's were published by BIS, which itself is a subsidiary of Interplay.

does anyone know much about this Arx Fatalis game...i think i might be interested i have to wait in line to download the demo so this might take a while...would you recomend it DAD if i like Baulder's Gate?

It's nothing like Baldur's Gate. If anything it's more like Ultima Underworld. It's a 3D 1st person RPG, where you are on your own (no party). One of the nifty things is that in order to cast spells is that you have to 'draw' the symbols for it on your screen.

Actually, I liked Baldur's Gate series (and other IE games), and also liked Arx Fatalis. It is very different from the Infinity Engine games, though, and the draw-runes-to-cast-spells can be annoying sometimes. You can pre-cast spells and store them up to three spells, but that's it.
Character creation... not much here. You can change the head, adjust some starting stats, but it's not very friendly to people who must have unique avatars. Can't choose gender. Classless system.
The graphics are a bit dated, but I can live with that. Interface's not the best in the world, though, and the journal definitely needs work. Every kind of message -- the help in tutorial, quest entries, etc. -- seem to be stacked up without any categorization. Buuut, small touches like having to cook food to eat and such are quite endearing. I also like the atmosphere (which reminds me a bit of PS:T): dim, subterranean and quite unique. My favourite kind. Sure, I like an average fantasyland, but the usual forests with frolicking elves and open sky can get a bit old.
Roleplaying... You don't really get to choose dialogue options. When you hit a quest NPC or certain NPCs, the characters talk on their own. Sorta like in Diablo 2, though your avatar gets to have some lines, too. The voiceacting isn't too shabby, either.
Combat... Straightforward if you're playing melee. You hit things. The longer you hold the mouse button, the harder you hit. I am not far in the game yet -- haven't played it for a while, really -- but I heard that playing a magic-user can be fun.
So... you might or might not like Arx Fatalis. If you can borrow someone's copy, it's worth trying out.

Fallout 3, it looks to be one of the biggest mysteries in RPG world.
-This game has the code name Project Van Buren. Since the BIS devs have been talking about Fallout3 features is that enough to say that that Van Buren is really Fallout3, while you can`t announce it yet?
-What, like posting concept art, rules systems, races, and the like isn't? No big mystary here.
-If O.J. Simpson had as much circumstantial evidence about his case as this project has had posted on this board (edit:BIS board) and fan sites, then he'd be picking up his soap with his toes right now... maybe that's a bad example, but you get the point.

There are lots of rumours in internet about that secret Van Buren project that is being made in Black Isle. I have heard rumours this is nothing but Planescape Torment 2 or Fallout 3. But more ppl say that this game will be totally different from both of them.
The game will use upgraded LichTech 2 engine, with excellent graphics and deep role playing world operating under D&D 3.0. rules. Btw, the game have been in development for two years already.

My bets would be it is Fallout 3. But are you sure about the D&D license? If its Fallout 3 and they are not using SPECIAL then its a waste of time.
As to it being in development for over 2 years, that is true but not with a team. Until project Jefferson was cancelled it had one or 2 people thinking abotu a lot of stuff. Rumour has it that Jefferson was canned because of the lost D&D license.

If it's not a new game altogether, it's going to be Fallout 3. By all accounts, the people who made PS:T have stated over and over again that there'll be no sequel. (Sure, one said he'd like to see it, but that's hardly enough.)

i'm starting to wonder if this game is even worth it! I have to wait in a line to download a demo! Waiting takes about 2 hours and then after that i still have to actually download the game...that is crap! I still have a life...they should know!
