The string that was snipped had no meaning of course even though I could read some unrelated kanji when Japanese was selected.~

The forum.gif image referenced by the URL displayed “Hiragana” that I could read as someone doing his evening studies and saying that he knows a bit of Japanese.
This did not happen on the Forum display over here by language auto selection or anything related to Japanese.
OTOH, I checked it once more and you did say that you encoded it by “UTF8 unicode”
Yes, it did display properly when I selected UTF8 Unicode.
