scry = remote view by magic, usually with the help of a crystal ball or pool of water
You will (hopefully) do this later in the game, to find a few people (it is a cut scene video).
Did you have to skip the video test to play in Direct3D mode? Some Radeon cards just give a black screen for the test, though will play the game fine if it is skipped.
