Alot of people mentioned using scorpions to kill monsters in some of the post.
My question is this: is this a spell, because I can't seem to find this spell, or do you use resurect or something else?

Welcome to the forum, DeltaWolf!

You use Scorpion Traps with the Deadly Gift skill. They spring out of the ground when an enemy comes near. If you then cast Aura of Command on them, they become your loyal followers. Mobile, semi-invulnerable combat drones.

an advice for the novice: if the scorpions take the fight out of any battle, try to battle without them. many have complained that scorpions make the game too easy.

Ditto to Frost weapons. I had one because I was getting bored of replaying the first half of the game (I lost my save). When I get the Nobleman's Sword, I took the first one and used that, despite the lack of Frost. I'm happy for a bit of challenge again.

I red somewhere in this forum that you would also get xp for the kills the scorpions made.
I started anew with an archer/survivor to try out the more strategic ways of fighting, but noticed that no xp-points came in from the scorpions. (tried the first trollcave with and without them..)
I see no reason to use them further in the game because they steal valuable xp.

i believe you only get xp with scorpions if you cast 'aura of command' on them. but you don't get full xp, so i still never used them.

well not really ,faile. i summoned scorpions & before i had the ability to cast aura of command, the kills made by the scorpions do register & i did get XP out of them. so long as their not too far from my character.

we have talked about this in previous threads, right?

I've used scorpions a fair bit in my game & so far as I can tell I definitely get xp from their kills, the same amount as if my char made the kill - haven't used Aura of Command on them though.

...and yeah, I'm sure I've read about this on another thread! (couldn't be bothered searching though ).

I've just seen the clear numbers talking to me. First I killed all the trolls in the trollcave with scorpions, and then I reloaded and killed them my self.
The last killing spree gave way more xp than the first. I know the other thread tells otherwise, but that does not concur with my test.

As far as I know, you don't get the full amou8nt of Experience Points when you use the help of Scorpions.

With them, killing enemies is much easier, but for a price (less Experience Points).

OK, just tried a small experiment with the sorpions.
Mildly spoilerish:

[color:"#27384a"]
Went back to the catacombs to one of the hidden rooms (was too weak on first visit to kill those monsters ), battled a giant spider:-
First time, killed montster unaided, xp = 3836
Second time used 1 scorpion, did not join battle myself xp = 3836
nb. - scorpion only fought while my char was in the room,
if I exited the battle stopped, started over on re-entry.
Third try with scorpion, using Aura of Command, xp = 1913
Granted this is a controlled situation & only one enemy, but I can't imagine it would change much in a 'normal' fight - a variable there I suppose would be when the scorpion wanders out of sight, not sure if that would affect xp. [/color]

ps: thanks to HandEFoot on 'spoiler' font color

We should use this "Spoiler-colour" Forum-wide.

Base on what was said,
It would seem to me that when using scorpion, you get full XP's (when not casting aura of command) as long as you are within a certain range of the scorpions, and get half the xp's when casting "Aura of Command", irrelevant of the distance from the scorpions.

Is my conclusion correct ?

That would seem to be right - just not 100% sure on difference distance makes. Tried another brief experiment - went to the Abby (haven't cleared that yet), engaged combat, dropped a scorpion, ran 'til the battle was off-screen. Still got XP from the kills, although the scorpion does not seem to initiate battles itself (i.e. will only attack creatures that have attacked you). Not sure on that one though - I remember that early on in the game there was a wolf listed as one of my kills, & up to that point I definitely had not killed any wolves/dogs myself, but did have a scorpion running loose.

Just as a side note - the scorpion will keep fighting if you get killed, & your dead character still gets XP! Was quite surprised the first time after a 'death' (before I hit the reload key) & my char calls out 'Fantastic' as she levels up! - was kinda weird at the time (but funny ).

I started using scorpians tonight because I have become bored with the game, my fualt, because I set up my character in such a way that the fun pretty much is gone, I cant be killed .

Anyway I put 5 points into traps and 5 points into Aura of Command and it doesnt make the game easy, it makes the game non-existant. You just walked and everything dies. You dont even have to lift a sword. Granted I do only get half the xp as if I had made the kill, but with the scorpians like this I could be level 25 and beat the game. Like someone said stay away from the scorpians if you want any challenge in the game. (To give you a idea 5 scorpians killed Joshpina in about 2 seconds in her fort in the wastelands, she had time to cast a deathnight that died instantily then she died.)

ps Keep your ac under 450 and your percent to be hit away from 19percent if you want any challenge in the game as well, trust me.
