Since DD is now a very wonderful price (plus now they have a computer that can play it) I bought and am sending it to them to play, hopefully creating 2 new addicts for Larian.

Nice DQueene, but they are your parents? And if yes, they like to play? Or they are your brothers?

They're just very special friends - a father (32 years) and his son (11 years). I think the son will like it the most because he loves RPG games like this. The father is more of a C&C (Generals) type of guy - but he'll play it too I'm sure.

They had a very very old pc and just recently was able to afford a newer one with a decent graphics card.

That's sad - sometimes parents forget how to how fun because they work so hard.

In the case of these two though, I'm not sure who's the most mature when it comes to playing games the 32 year old or the 11 year old.

Family is different everywhere. In Italy it's still very strong.
Famiglia is very important.

My mother plays many games that I like. She actually solved a few RPG's before me. When we play pen and paper RPG she always plays a dwarf. Even my father enjoys the board games Talisman and DungeonQuest. I love it when I get my whole family together for a game.

What I nice gift DQ

Edit: It really is different for all families, my mother likes computer games but my father and I share movies and music.

You all are lucky.

My mom hates games, my dad hates games, my wife hates my computer (games included). And I donno any parents, who play games with their kids.

My daughter is too small to play the games I play, and she has some difficulties reading english (to be true she cant read at all).

So, I am kinda loner here.

My dad don't know english too, and he don't play more with me, my mom hate games too, but i have my brother, we play every day Marvel Vs. Capcom to solve some problems about fights, hehehe.

And we play others fighter games, what is very nice.

We always make something like a competition, to see who can win more than the other.

The 11 year olds mom worries about him having to much imagination since he likes to play these games. I just laugh at her and tell her that it's good for him. He also likes to tell what I call a group story - one person starts a story and then the next person continues the story and then the next - kind of like a group sitting around a campfire or taking a long trip in a car. Even if it's not a "fantasy" story like DD it's fun to do.

Aye
We used to do that too.
Sometimes for weeks. And sometimes turned it into a real game. Specially when it turned into a scary story. Then we (children of the neighbourhood) would get together in the evening, get to the fields and plantages, and look for the killer or vampire or whatever the story was about. Scaring eachother half dead.
These days that don't happen anymore. We always spend time playing outside. A whole bunch of kids from the neighbourhood. I remember a period where we decided to be a gang and decided to be at war with a "gang" of kids from another neighbourhood.
These days kids don't play on the streets and in the fields anymore. And you just don't see them together in groups anymore. It's useally just 2 or 3 together.

@Egin: Same problem here my dad don't like pc games, except the games included with windows, like patience and stuff. And he is always asking what i like about those games, and complaining about the violence in the games. My mom has the same opinion like my dad, except that she can barely work with the pc, but she is getting better, because she follows pc lessons. But i dont care about their opinion they may think whatevere they want, but they dont have to put pressure on me to let me stop with playing pc games.
Some like to go walking, riding a bike, or other things, but i like to play now and then a good pc game.

wow, nice 2 know about your families, people. the little things & descriptions that make all of u more than just names with avatars & alignments.

my dad is 60 years old & he's a pc gamer. more of a RTS-freak. he plays C&C games, warcraft series, etc.. . he's a sharpshooter in medal of honor, the game that i cannot stand(allergic to FPS). no wonder, he was in the police field force for 30 years.

my mom is more of a gardener. she sees pc games are ok only for tension release not for prolonged gaming. that's why she'll have me help her move her pots & cactii.

I'm an orcphan... so my mommy and daddy left me in a cave
till i wandered out one day, and realized i was covered in a green tint.....
having no parents
i never discovered games until i met with a rather strange group in the forest,
and realized that it was a lot of fun.... most of those friends are gone now...

But the game WILL go on......

Janggut:
I have a good friend (he is my collegue also) he is like your dad, 55-60 years old.
He worked in special police forces for his entire life, btw he was best sniper in Estonia and one among the best in USSR (he retired and now works in our firm).

I haven't seen a person more addicted to games than he (only I am ).
Yes he plays CC (Red Alert mostly) and omg MOH Spearhead, everyday! I play will him often, lots of fun!

Merendrious:
Right, as long as you like it. There are lots of people who don't like games, mostly because they don't understand games and even don't want to understand.

And as DQueene sayd they will always complain, say something like, games make kids stupid or deaf etc.

Thanks God there is strong community of peeps, who enjoys and supports gaming. Yeehaa ! I propose a tost, - to unlimited exploration, the jorney will continue with

Btw, I heard that those who play have better vision and eyesight. (scientifically proven fact!)
