We used to do that too.
Sometimes for weeks. And sometimes turned it into a real game. Specially when it turned into a scary story. Then we (children of the neighbourhood) would get together in the evening, get to the fields and plantages, and look for the killer or vampire or whatever the story was about. These days that don't happen anymore. We always spend time playing outside. A whole bunch of kids from the neighbourhood. I remember a period where we decided to be a gang and decided to be at war with a "gang" of kids from another neighbourhood.
These days kids don't play on the streets and in the fields anymore. And you just don't see them together in groups anymore. It's useally just 2 or 3 together.
