I've been reading other peaples OPINION On the games and thought I would give my own!! Lets just start out with "Dungeon Siege".I have not beat it yet but someday, If I don't have Nothing els to play and really Borded I'll compleat it. But anyway...The game has great 3D Graphics but a boring story line....Game gets to slow some times and Seems to drag on!!! Thats it for (DS) short and sweet...Now Diablo 1....Its ok! played it one time and beat it and then got (D2) Nothing To jump up and down about. It would have been better if it had the RUN op...Just one of them game that you like to beat one time and put it in you desk and forget about...Now Diablo 2.....About the same as D1.. If it wasn't for Battle.net,SetItems and the New act(5) I would have retired it To....But I still play it...The Graphics could be alot better. I like the 3D feeling better than 2D...Know what I mean!!!!!And Now Divine Divinity.....Its all there 3D feeling A Hell of alot of Side quest to do I just started playing the game last thursday and the first thougth that came to mind is were have you been all my life.....But really I was playing around with it and Killed this one charters Pigs,I think He didn't like that to much so he killed me....You just don't get that with D1 & D2......Game play But I will say this for all the games and everybody that had part in making all the games(DS-D1&D2-DD)Thank you for not making the requirements high...NOT ALL OF US HAVE -SUPERCOMPUTERS-......If you would like to add something. FEEL FREE TO......... SIEGEHEAD ........

Hi SiegeHead,

I'll add one thing: please use paragraphs.

I have to say that in order, I'd go:
 • Divine Divinity
 • Diablo 1
 • Diablo 2
 • Dungeon Siege

Divine Divinity's story and quests wins it first place.

Diablo 1 wins of the the others because I prefer the maps in it. I like having sectioned maps instead of wide open spaces. There's a better feel to the combat when you feel like your making progress rather than having to seek progress.

Diablo 2 combat system is the best I've seen. The use of mana is excellent. And the amount of balancing that has been implemented is very welcome.

Dungeon Seige has an amazing graphics and world engine. Pity about the story and combat.

I pretty much agree with HandEFood except between the Diablos...

Divinity is unmatched for the amount of gameplay you can get out of it. Every quest I do seems to bring me two more to work on after that...I love it. And even though I've played through it once before, I'm still getting quests I never encountered before.

Diablo 2 I've beaten several times. However, at least half of these were because I played through it multiplayer with a friend. That game you can beat in a day though, because the quests are so straightforward and unchanging that it just gets ridiculous to repeat the game because there's no variation to it.

Diablo 1 (I thought) was a freakin awesome game and I beat it over and over...but in retrospect it wasn't as good as I thought it was. It really was just a new sort of game for me.

Dungeon Siege had my hopes up with its looks; however, as everyone's been saying, the storyline blew...it's really too bad. Same for Neverwinter Nights in my opinion.

When all is said and done, I believe that we're going to have to revise our lists to throw at the top

I'm not changing my list until I try it. I'm looking forward to RiftRunner, but I'm not putting it anywhere in the list until I try it properly.

Well that's what I saying...obviously a game can't be rated until you play it...but I'm just hoping it is worthy of a #1 ranking

DD is spoken for. D1 I have never played, so D2 it is.

Dungeon Siege is simply the dullest thing I've ever witnessed -- I can't say "played" or "game" with good conscience. The abomination all but plays itself, and if it were any more linear, it'd be in a straight line. You can't explore much; there is little space to stray from the path. The NPCs are as deep as little puddles, and the story is about as original as egg on toast. There's no substance to this abomination whatsoever. Now, DD's story is not original, but the way it is presented is the key, as well as side-quests, NPCs, and dialogue. DS has none of this. Pretty graphics does nothing if things like plot, characterization, and gameplay are left out.

Frankly, I'd rather beat my head against a hard surface than play the tripe that is DS again. And no, I never completed it, nor do I intend to. This steaming pile of manure makes D2 look divine and its story/NPCs the likes of a literary gift to mankind.

Just two things thrown in by me :

- I played D1, D2 and LOD. At one point, I got tired of the permanent killing theme, and stopped it. Apart from the killing, it was quite fun ! I only wished more interaction and story ...

- I once played the demo of Dungeon Siege.

My summary sounded like this : "The absence of a story is concealed by great graphics."

I don't mind hack-fests as long as they're done well. A bit of arcade anger management is always welcome!

The point is: DS is not done well, as far as I'm concerned.

You're right. Diablo 1 and 2 are good hack-fests, though.

i felt that DS is meant for LAN party & as such, single-player is very much dead. well relatively, if we compare it to DD or fallout series (ok, also BG series).

same feelings for NWN which nobody nor any reviewer raved about its single-player mode. it's for party & party rocks. stories usually go 2 hell when u play with friends unless u go for hardcore RPG(like D&D).

so i hope story/plot as well as side plots are stronger & with better ties 2 the main premise. example: if there is war looming, then have every NPC talk about war & rumours around it. the one like the travelling merchant whom u meet as u cross the bridge from aleroth who talks of war & that the orcs are coming your character dialogue allows u 2 either rectify him or aggravate the rumour by lying. now that's great for RPG.

The problem is that both singleplayer and multiplayer are parts of DS -- or, for that matter, NeverWorking Right. You can't rate a game only by half of it, or otherwise Lionheart might have taken the best RPG of the year because of its Barcelona half. So.

true, wish lionheart is more all-rounded since the devs have more experience in creating RPGs & some larians are fans of their games suc has fallout series(lar i think).

RRR is progressing nicely & it seems it will come out on time, according to the larians & the recent chat. but then 2 be critically honest, since we have yet 2 see anything, we can only speculate & hope.

I played around with Diablo 1 for a very short time, but didn't like it much.

Diablo 2 is a good fighting game, but has no real role-playing elements, and while it is certainly the best game of its type I have ever seen, the lack of anything except combat costs it in terms of replayability, IMO.

Dungeon Siege has probably got the best graphics engine ever invented for an RPG. Unfortunately, everything else about the game is terrible.

Divine Divinity and Lionheart are more directly comparable, as both have an excellent mixture of RPG and combat elements at the start, but tail off into hack and slash by the end. I am far more likely to replay DD than Lionheart though, so obviously I think DD is a better game, though Lionheart does have a better character build system

In order of my own personal preference for the four games listed, I would have to say:

Divine Divinity
Diablo 2
Dungeon Siege
Diablo 1

I will ask you to allow me to add some more games that I have recently played in comparison with

- MISTMARE
- GOTHIC II

Well I only have to say that I droped both of them when I installed . As I have said before, I may be a poor gamer, and I don´t have as much experience in RPGS as I have in Adventures but I liked much more. The thing with point and click with the mouse is the best for me. Not to mention the great music, good graphics and the story line. And what a smart thing the Larians did to add the «put in order quests» option in the diary! It helps so much when you have many things to do.

Mistmare has very good graphics but I got so mad with the controls of the game that I droped it. And you do not have a choice of sex. I hate to play as a man.

In Gothic II I didn´t like the graphics at all. I don´t know, maybe I am wrong. But I prefer . And I can´t wait till DD2.
