Hey!

I'm a total newbie at this game and i'm not a computer genius either...and i just joined the forum! Yeah for me!

Well anyways...heres my problem..

I'm now in the wastelands but the problem is that i can't see npcs. i mean i could be standing right in front of them and i couldn't see them! It will be hard to play the rest of the game the way i can't see now. And i'm sooo close! Especially these imps..god those little buggers are mean! Anyways, if you have any solutions to this problem i've been having, i would be very very grateful if you could tell me...and remember..i'm not a computer genius! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

By the way i know "sight" has alot to do with it but i assure you that has never been a problem before. I also had this problem previously when i went to go see the dwarven king, but i used the teleporter stones to get past the guards with all my equipment. But even now i have all my equipment and i still cant see the npcs! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I did actually try on of these patches that people recomend that i do. the only thing it succeded in doing was giving my screen this weird green grainy look to it. of coarse i immediately took off the patch. i have also tried the different settings..Software, Direct 3D, and the other one..but nothing seems to work.

It seems the best way to go would be this item editor but i don't know how to pull it up..does anyone have detailed instructions on how to do it? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> [color:"red"] [/color]

i don't know much about computers but that actually kinda works! now they gave me a screen that i can't figure out. There are some things that i dont' get on it either like this: Declared number of items, found number of items, number of corrupted items, and grouped number of items. So what do these mean and what do i put in these slots. my items arn't corrupt the background is.

I no use it, but hear that; found items- is items in game, click one; edit.

The program does not show up on the task bar, but if you start minimizing everything else it should turn up (or minimize all, then maximize/minimize one program).

uh, actually i totally x'd out of it. And i saved it, but now i can't pull it up, weird. the only way i could get back was the way that i got there to begin with. which isn't hard but it would be hard to go back. but besides that, is there any easier way to solve my problem? HELP PLEASE!!!

You could try installing the patch, then fixing the colour problem.



Maybe either option would fix the 'weird green grainy look'?

Question:
How do you do other things on your computer while playing the game like checking your email or playing solitare. I didn't know that you could do that on this type of game. Does the screen in DD have the _, square, and x options?
So your saying i should reinstall the patch and just wait a while for the screen to go back to normal. ok, i'll try. but till then i'm open to any other suggestions. particulary ones that don't require to much knowledge about computers i'm only 16 here <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shhh.gif" alt="" />

Hi Raven, I play WinXP and have the Windows start button on my keyboard. If I hit this, I'm on my desktop then. Hitting this button again, brings me back to the game.

[color:"yellow"]Warning[/color]: Makes the game unstable though, not recommended for real playing, just if you want to pop in or out by looking for something. In fact I play offline - and use what I described above only if I want to test something in one of my saves, make a screenshot etc.

If I install a patch or a game, I do this always offline and have no background programs running at the same time to avoid crashes.

But like Kiya says.. if i'm trying to fix my game problem why would i use it if it could also screw up my game. oh well, i guess its a chance i'll have to take. Keep the tips coming! i wouldn't suggest doing anything other than playing the game,
going back and forth between programs

it sounds as if you've got the DD ItemEditor? no?
that will not fix your display problem, but will fix your weapon problem <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

haha..i posted the problem at the beginning i just need a solution that nobody can seem to put in layman terms. you know? well anyway..just to spare you from looking back at the question...my problem is that i can't see npcs or enemys in the wastelands. i don't care about seeing npcs really, it's just when those little s*** head imps start kicking my sorry tail i'd like to at least see them so i might have a chance. i also have this problem of walking into the dark areas..it's really annoying! i mean when i walk in them i can't see anything! please help!

Somehow I think this belongs better in the technical help section.
There was something about this on the old forum. About the map being black and not being able to see something. It's probably related.
