For now you can use a sneaker net (run back and forth with floppies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> ). Use
Chainsaw to cut the patch into floppy size chunks.
Do you have an internal modem in the HP? For an external ethernet based modem you would be able to connect the modem to a router (possibly including a firewall), and connect both computers to that. Check with your ISP and see if you can get them to replace the modem with one compatible with your new computer (preferably external ethernet based). You may be able to add a NIC to the HP to network them, or setup a direct cable connection between the computers.
