Thank you, thats just on my birthday what a nice present <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" />

And as a Belgian I must agree: Belgians are much more wackier than Germans (becos I lift the average <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />), but still its a close call <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Well this is to the Larian team.

Well everyone always gets wrong well what nationality you actually are. Is it Germans or it is Belgians. Well I have came up with a very good solution and you can make the choice. So here is my solution:

Ok we know you are a team of germans and belgians. Well so make a mixture of the names. Like lets say we call you Gergians or how about Belmans.

Now what do you say would it be <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Gergians or Belmans

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Or how about Gerbel sorry just had to put that in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Thats a good idea Drakonis, but why stop theire. I sugguest we make an imaginary country out of Larian for instance Larmania(inhabitant= larians). Now Lar would be the king, Lynn the queen,Marian the royal (ava)painter ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

(Who would be the jester)

Maybe something like the easter egg area of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> (All the writers and stuff in the dungeons). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

I've got a question about item dropping and gathering in the battlefields. Can you drop a quest item in a battlefield and if you can, can you get it back next time you enter or is it magically transported to the border of the battlefield?

I mean middle-european time-zone.

8.00 Evening ? Early morning ? Greeenwich time ? European time ?

Sorry. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Thats what I tought

EST = eastern standard time.
so 20u00 - 5 = 15u00 time GMT belgium is in the zone GMT +1 so 20u00 EST == 16u00
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

could anyone check if this is correct?

btw how long will the chat last, 3-4 hours <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />?

I think: time difference between EST (Eastern Summer Time) and CEST (Central European Summer Time) are 6 hours. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Almost correct, but the '-' sign should be a '+'
so 20u00 + 5 = 01u00 time GMT belgium is in the zone GMT +1 so 02u00

ergo, it's night then, most people sleep over here...

He's right though.
It's +6. (we're "ahead" in europe.)
So 2am ECT or 02:00.

My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

Yep that is right.
EST time is the time in New York. So the people in GMT +1 have to chat at 2 o clock at night ( the night of tuesday to wednesday)

and if you don't believe me: clock

Hi!

I used http://www.timezoneconverter.com and it says:

8 PM EST == 3 AM @ Berlin

(Sorry, I put 1AM in the news at first, but this was wrong)

Depends on where you are <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

In Germany (as well as in Belgium, I think), it'll be September 17th, 3AM.

As the disclaimer says on Timezone converter:
Code
DST* is not in effect on this date/time in EST
DST* is in effect on this date/time in Europe/Berlin

DST is Daylight Saving Time. As only one of the timezones is modified for that you end up with one hour too much. The difference between EST and the time in germany is 6 hours. So this means 2AM and not 3AM.

here you can find the two timezones, Click me.
Lookup the 8PM time for New York and see what it is then in berlin.

Complicated... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> they should have used that internet time thing instead...

But 2 AM sounds good, worst thing that could happen is you have to wait for an hour <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" />

Amazing! It's the first time a professional developping team would do something like that! It really pleases me the way Larian interract with the fans <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

I have to be honest: me too, I made a mistake with the time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
Guess some Larians want to kill me now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
But the time is like Myrthos explained in a post earlier - 2 o'clock in the morning over here in Belgium.

About registering: could be, not sure though. But when the chat starts, we still can provide the people with more info in this thread here.

I think the Chat should be accessible through any IRC client, without registering. Another way seems to be using some kind of Java Applet Gamesnet seemingly provides.

Could someone test this, please ? (I've more or less tested the IRC thing, and it seems to work <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )

Amazing! It's the first time a professional developping team would do something like that!

Are you kidding? There are several developer chats a year, with various developer companies.

Very confusing. Why don't they have daylight saving time everywhere? Seems like a reasonable thing to do. Anyway, 2am fits right into my schedule. Prime-time evening for me, if you get the drift. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kitty.gif" alt="" />

Now what will I ask...

Day-light savings actually causes a lot of problems. For a week after the start and end of day-light savings, accidents at home, work and on the road increase significantly. I think it would be easier to change trading hours, personally.

i'm so confused with all that daylight savings thing. scared the daylight out of me as in asia obviously we don't have such concept so we don't exactly understand what/why/how/doh about it. speaking of wacky german/belgian, with all that daylight thing, i'm starting 2 think maybe the whole world is wacky. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

i'll just follow handefood's time as he's my closest neighbour(biggest time difference between malaysia & australia: 2 hours). but then maybe i'll ask someone else 2 help me ask some queries. i hate irc(i'm a lab tech working full-time against irc slackers who misuse the labs).

do think up of juicy questions, will u? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

How the hell does this work?!

Chat is at 20:00 Tue in GMT-5
I am in GMT+10
20:00 + 15 hours difference = 35:00
35:00 Tue = 11:00 Wed

So why did the timezone site tell me 1:00am?!?

I still have no idea if that's an hour out because of daylight savings. If there is daylight savings, then it'd be 10:00am Wed for me. I think.

janggut, try 8:00am Wednesday, perhaps?

Why does North or South matter? Time zones run East to West. If I was in Perth (West coast), you'd be one hour ahead of me!

yeah, if u're in perth u'll be 2 hours ahead from where u are now & that means we're on the same time zone. maybe not one hour ahead. it can be the same for us. IF u are in perth.

That's right. I keep thinking it's 3 hours between Melbourne and Perth. It's only 2 hours, but we had an hour extra because they don't have daylight savings there.

I can only stress that the chat seems to be accessible through any IRC client, provided with the exact adress (Server and Chatroom).

Personally, I use BersIRC , but mIRC is also good.

And the last dev-chats with Larian Studios have been one or two years ago.

Aye and those were on a more human time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" /> . Would my boss accept it if I am not very awake at work because of a game's developer chat ? Bah being a student didn't brought so much problems <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I hope that there will be a very large chatlog with a lot of intresting things to read because I don't think I will be able to be there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> (So if someone who's going to attent the chat will be so kind ... I will be very gratefull )

Maybe it is possible to hold a chat on a more normal time for us European people ? (Or a chat on a not-so-normal-time but on a weekend day) .

Hey, if Jurak and his pals show up, that's already something. And I do hope Riftrunner is somewhat more popular than Harbinger ever was, even before it's horribleness was public knowledge.

Assuming it's a moderated chat. People ask their questions, the moderator picks out the once he thinks are good enough to ask the Larian Studios folks and puts the question before them. You all get the answer then.
So the moderator acts as the middle man so that the devs are not swarmed with an enormous amount of questions and all kinds of people begging for attention.

If it's not a moderated chat... then they mostly end up in a mess <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

and i have a feeling there will be lot's of people interested in this session.

will there also be game reporters etc. in this?
And who of the Larians want to "sacrifice" there night to join the chat? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

about the mofderated session. will i see the main window with all the names into the right.
i type my question in this main window, and all the answers pop up in another window or in the same one? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Well, since I made a "time mistake" not everybody will be there.
