I tried following the procedures in the lost item guide but I save in the same folder (not a new one) because I did not care if I lost some items. I just wanted to get the key to the house. But again, after I opened with WinZip and saving in the saved games folder of divine divinity nothing changed once I got back to the game. I did not have a key for the house. I had the extra key that did not work to open that last jug just as you mentioned.
