Lighte, IIRC you have lightning, correct? Steel scorpions die then very quickly.
About the hanging scene:
Kill Jake in the cemetary, then you can save again and after that leave for the robbers.
As long as you're in the underground cemetary place the game does not allow you to save. In earlier versions leaving this place wiothout killing Jake lead to hanging cutscenes, specially the one you mentioned.
