You have to find a certain guy named Caius Cosades: Look for him in the north east of Balmora!
I would recommend to search around Vvardenfell a bit before starting with the main quest (by talking to Caius Cosades). You are very weak now and the most important for you know are drakes (currency), because you can pay teachers, in order to become better...
If you have any further question:
Lews, you´re always welcome <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />
BTW: you are the first one who posts a real question here: <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

You should try to find the hiding place, because there is quite a lot of money in there.
Concerning levelling:
You level up by increasing your tag skills. You need 10 points for this. You increase your tag skills by simply using them all the time, or learning them from teachers or finding certain skill increasing books.
If you fight with an axe for example everytime you hit someone/something with your axe you will get a bit better. If you´ve hit enough times you get a skill point. You can see your progress by pointing at your skill with your mouse.
Tag skills are the 10 skills marked as Major or minor skills. Not hte others listed below. If you have 10 skill points in tag skills you get the level. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
So if you have enaugh mone3y and the right teachers available you can easily level up without even going out of a certain building (for example warriors guild).

One other thing, i hope you've patched the game. It helps with alot of bugs and decreases the crashes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. One other question Lews, is it Morrowind alone or do you have a expantion too?
On the hiding place: After you've found it, keep the money and buy better weapons and armor. You'll need them. When you have money enough, you can come back and give it to the nord-guy.
Little spoiler on finding the place.

Concerning walking: try to use boats, magic transport (mage guild), or stilt striders.
Try to get the spells marc and recall and the 2 intervention spells. You get the marc/recall in the mage guild in Vivec (foreign quarters) and the intervention spells in the temples (Almsivi) respectively in many imperial shrines (divine)

I have used the silt striders a bit.
ok, so I helped that blighted person in the mine, and moved up. I think I'm doing ok now, thanks. though some slavers near the starting town (in a cave) gave me some trouble.

So, if i read this right you're in Gnisis. Doing the imperial legion (or the army as you call it) quests.
About walking: It might be enoying, but it is also good for leveling up certain skills. Like the one for walking (it lowers the number of used fatigue for it). I forgot tyhe name of it and there is the other one: acrobatics. The "jumping" ability.

The skill you mean is athletics! By increasing this skill you will be able to move a lot faster...
If you feel like beeing a hero you could try a very hard dungeon near Gnisis with a special revard. Go down to the river, swim a bit to the east and then you´ll see a dungeon entrance near the river.
If you are able to survive, very well a visit! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Tell me about your Character! I´m sure I can help!
You find your diamond at Nalcaria´s shop near the Hlaalu town hall in upper Balmora. Be careful, if she catches you you are in big trouble. She´s some awesome spells to cast on you... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
of course you could buy the diamond... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

OK! armor 2 is nothing! You could take it off as well.
What level are you, what class, which race? If you have heavy armor as a main skill continue with the quests of the imperial legion. You get a full armor set after doing some quests... (one after another piece...) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
If you wan´t it faster visit the castle in Pelagiad. Pelagiad is a small village near Seyda Neen. In the castle you find the same armor lying ready to be stolen... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

If you rightclick you see your stats , your inventory and your level... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Concerning Pelagiad:
Go to Seyda Neen (starting village). Leave Seyda Neen with direction east. Pass by the stilt strider Platform. After some time a street comes from the north. Take this one and follow it to the north. You´ll see Pelagiad soon. But there are road signs anyway so this can´t be a Problem for you!

OK Lews!
What do you mean by "cut throatkilled me" ? I play the german version so names could be different...
Try to get as much money as possible... ...then go to the warriors guild in Balmora (or any other place with good teachers) and learn your skill points and your next level... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

There is a small problem: if he's a member of the thiefs guild, then you'll have problems in the worriors guild. They are HARD nearly IMPOSSIBLE to combine (imo).

Nope Joliekiller!
The problem you mean occurs with the famous "codebook quest" which is heaviliy bugged. But Lews would not recognise any problem by joining warriors guild as well for the moment.
But he even needs not to join the warriors guild. He can learn there without beeing member. Of course he could easily find other teachers (imperial legion for example if he is member there... [cheaper]).
