For what it's worth, I just wanted to let those who remembered my computer problems know that the upgrade this past weekend went well. I now have 1 GB RAM and an Athalon 64-bit 3.0 GHz CPU, along with an Audigy 2 card and an Asus K8V SE deluxe mobo. It's running like a dream, and with about 80 mods, I'm still getting 25-40 FPS at 100% distance. I'm quite pleased, thank you.
As for the endless crashes on the older parts--we're still not sure what caused that, though my technie is planning to run some exhaustive tests next weekend. We want to use the good items to add to our second computer.
