Hiya, apologies in advance if this has been covered somewhere else, I'm new here

After gathering the seven council members, I hit the gong. The scene starts where I'm killed, Janus appears and the six members are killed. After the wizard council member threatens the demon, the view switches back to my character...but she's stuck in the darkness at the north-west corner of the map! I can't use skills, scroll or move. The faqs states that I'm suppose to be teleported somewhere...?

I'm stuck. Any ideas?

btw. This is using the patched version, if that helps any.

This doesn´t sound good...

What are your computer stats?
Do you use DirectX9?
Do you have any probs with your CD? (scratches?)

What you could do is to turn your colour resolution to 16 Bit.

Hi and welcome, Nocturnal

Just between you and me: Are you using a NO-CD crack? The CD has to be in the PC during the video sequence and depending on which crack you're using you might have to reinstall the game.

Well, I can still use the automap, I can still move my cursor and I can still see the rest of the hall on the large map. I can use the bed in my inventory as well, so I doubt it's a 'hard' crash. I think it's something in the scripting perhaps?

I'm not using DX9 on that particular pc, my cds are fine [ guard them like gold ] and so far, this is the very first crash/bug/hang that I've encountered.

I have some unfinished quests in my log...perhaps one of them needs to be finished? They're all trivial things though. What exactly should happen after Janus transforms, kills the council and mocks the wizard?

Maybe my character is just too dangerous and this is Janus' way of stopping me...

There should be a video sequence, which doesn´t start in your case.

One thing: Could you look up if there is an error.txt file in your divinity folder?
If yes, please post the content.

Unfinished quests can´t be a problem in your case.

Nope, no crack. I was forced to abandon my 'hiding my cds in a safe' approach to Divine Divinity when the patch was released I think it has something to do with my resistances...all mine are at 170+. Could that maybe stop me from being killed correctly in the scene?

YAY!!!

I unequiped all my gear and it worked!

I find it odd that this hasn't happened to anyone else

Anyway, thanks for the quick replies!

Nocturnal, I'm still curious, how come your resistances are so high, did you use a lot of charm runes? And which patch are you playing: 1.0034a? (it's on the right lower part of your starting screen, where you see load/save/options etc.)

That multi-charm trick was fixed in the patch, but my shield is 4 slots, my armor is 5, my gloves are 5, my belt 2, my boots 3, my amulet 3 and my helmet 5.

I buy every silver charm I can get, and I got some cool gold charm drops in the orc camp. Plus most of my gear is from the dragon set, so I have a base 10 - 15 resistance on them. Plus I have level 4 magic barrier thingy :P that puts me at 20 resist without equip.

Let's say all my equip was clean, that's 27 slots for 4 elements, at 40 resist for a gold charm, that makes 240 resist per element + 20 base + about 30 from native equipment bonuses. So if I could remove my current charms and get the gold charms I wanted, I could maybe reach 300 resist all!

If you are using a no-CD hack, remove it.

My resistances were all between 100 and 250 by the end of the game. It made combat kind of pointless to be honest.

Copy your saved game to a computer which has a working drive temporarily. You can save again after you wake up in the Wastelands.

Mind you, it'll just crash again on the ending sequence...
