Hello, everyone !

I'm opening this thread here for a kind of !Afterglow-Discussion" (as I call it after a Songt by Genesis ) for the Chat last Night.

Were you satisfied with the Chat ? Was it too late ? How did you consider the Moderation ? Have you YACL (Yet another chat log) ? What would you ask the next time ? What kind of adcive or counsel would you give the "makers" of this chat for the next time (both Larian and RPGCodex) ? Have you additiobal questions still unanswered ? When did you actually go to bed last night (for Europeans onjly) ?

Well this here is the place to go on.

Alrik.

By the way, I went to bed between 4.15 and 4.30.

A decent time would be nice next time. I didn't participate because my wife woule have killed me otherwise

Also many of the questions that were brought forward remain unasked and thus unanswered.

The same goes for me. I could not join because of the time. It would be very nice if next time the chat take place earlier.

Well, I think most of the larians were pretty short in their answers because of the late time. For some reason the chat didn't excite me all that much.

About the moderation: pretty chaotic at most times, having answered 2 questions at the same time. Also, I asked about 5 questions, only 2 of which were pasted to the larians... among those one that had been answered already by that time.
So next time they'd better organise their questions more carefully.

Ah well, enjoyed it all in all.

I think the pace would have been quicker if the moderator started accepting questions 10 or 15 minutes early, to allow time to organize them. Of course, I wouldn't expect immediate responses from the Larians that late.

Every question I recieved during the chat was asked and was answered, including a few of the more silly ones like the one about the vehicles a la Half-Life 2 one and the Riftrunning Riftrunner's Riftrun one. In fact, the only reason we stopped was because we ran out of questions because the Larian folks seemed to be interested in sticking around longer.

That happens in a dev chat. One developer will say "done" when another developer isn't actually done. Nature of the beast, and all.

Yes, we've already flogged Exitium for that.

Taking questions in advance, I don't recall any lag time between when the questions started and when Larian was done introducing themselves.

You'll never actually get to organize the questions in one of these, though. Someone asks something about one particular thing, and it gets the rest thinking on the same subject. It's like telling someone not to think of an elephant, the first thing they'll think of is an elephant. You can take all the questions on combat, or items, or whatever, and ask those in a block, but you'll get one that was raised by the answers shortly afterwards. That afterwards can include after that block of questions has been answered.

Now, sure, we could always say for this chunk of time, we're only asking questions about orcs, so send all the orc questions. Well, what if you have an orc question after that time is over? Wait until next time? That doesn't work so well. Tends to make people unhappier than having the questions asked in the order they come in at.

It's definitely more chaotic than a straight up interview, but it's also more interactive and on the spot.

None of the answers were cut, only some things like people joining and leaving, as well as a certain picture URL which shall go unposted. The answers are intact.

As for the time thing, I'll work something out with Lynn. Still, we had a pretty big turn out, and a lot got done, IMHO.

There was no lag time - we had some problems with the "done" thing
At least, the boys had that problem, not me
But the moment we said we were finished, the next question was there.
I'm happy with the chat, although I'm... *yawn*

That was the first chat I ever checked out, and it seemed a little slow. Though, like you said, when someone says done quickly and another question is asked, some people may not have been done with the first. Maybe I was just impatient.

They seem pretty fast when you're taking questions, giving them to the question askers, logging manually to make sure the context of the answer stays with the question asked, and putting the HTML touches on the log, responding to PMs that aren't questions for the devs but are questions about the nature of the chat, etc.. All at the same time!

That was not what I meant Saint. On these forums, some of it's members managed to put together a lot of questions in a separate thread (or two actually). Several of these were unasked and thus unanaswered

Many thanks to SaintProverbius for putting things in perspective... as with Raze, this was my first time in a chat setting, and actually, it was less chaotic than I expected... (but still a bit intimidating )

I didn't know about those until after I was skimming the forum this morning. No one told me about that thread!

There was one question I sent in, and remained unanswered. It was the one about cutting act V to acts I - IV . Lynn replied to it later, after Lar had quit.

Ha! Got ya! You've cut my first "stupid artist" comment, which made the second one harder to understand. Actually this was since years an insider joke in Larian Studios, so you could have kept it in.
