Yes, but there is a whole range between quiet and hype. Quiet is no good. nobody knows you are making a game so nobody will buy it.
Noisy is better, loud in some occasions.
Hype does wonders for a publisher that is in the business to make money. They sell a lot of games <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And if it falls short of the expectations everybody blames the developer, who didn't even create the hype to begin with.
