I had a warrior and I would put at least 2 points into repair, just so that you can fix things your self if you are travelling.
As far a combat. the best weapons in the game are swords. I like to use a shield as well so i maxed both sword and sheile masteries as well as augment damage and stun. I would also suggest finding a sword with frost.
Secondarily it is in every characters best interest to put some points into lockpick and pcikpocket. Other than that use what you like its what makes characters unique..
Alot of people like to give their warriors spells. I personnally did not and was fine.
