What do you define as fanbase? Every buyer of the game? I don't know the sales figures of , but I assume it's something with 6 numbers. Last time I checked there aren't this amount of people on the forum. In all practicality, the number of active people on this forum doesn't make much difference in that sales number. The power of this fanbase doesn't come from numbers, they are irrelvant. The power comes from the willingness of the Larians to listen. They determine the power we have, not the other way around. Look at it this way, there are 500 or so members of this forum. I would imagine that each 1 of those people has posted some sort of opinion at 1 time or another. If each 1 of those 500 told 1 person about the game thats 1000. So we can assume that this number steamrolls and turns into hundreds of thousands,by word of mouth alone. I know that personally I have told more than 20 people about this game, and they are playing it! Those numbers are by no means irrelevent! When it breaks down to brass tacks, the numbers are what makes or break a game! Or you could think about it this way. If each of those 500 members paid 40$ for their copy of the game. Thats 20,000$! I am only counting what I see as membership. That is what counts,I call that a fanbase! If a company, any company does not listen to what their customers are telling them, they are setting themselves up for failure. Simple. BUT THERE ARE 2100 so that means alot more!!! I told 20 people, only 1 got it though

Actually, word of mouth contributed tremendously to the success of . I cannot go deeper into all the mistakes that surrounded the launch of for a variety of reasons, but if it hadn't been for an incredibly vocal fanbase, by which I mean all of you, and the good press we received, there wouldn't have be a Divinity universe. You,together with the press, have proven that word of mouth works. After all, in the US for instance, who knew about Divinity and what it was prior to the launch of the game ? It's only through sites like gonegold and rpgdot (list by no means limiting) that people started hearing about the game. This game was totally underhyped, and the only hype it got, it got from you.
That, among other things,is why what you think and say is very important to us. Obviously, we can't do everything you want, and we do have our own opinions about how things should be done in a RPG, but we do take your griefs, ideas and comments into account.
Personally, I regret very much that I can't go into open discussion about certain ideas anymore, because I really did enjoy that and have also considered it to be something that added tremendously to . (The reason I can't do that obviously is that I don't have the time anymore - the life of an independent game developer in these times isn't the easiest in the world)
So, yes, you do have power, and I for one am very grateful for all the efforts you put in this forum and the spreading of the word you do about these games we make.
Lar

it sounds crazy, But the more I got to know the Larians, (feedback on the forum, revieuws etc) the more I felt dedicated to the game and it's company. it went all the way that I still go every week to the supermarket (colruyt) and go to the Pc games corner. And then I find the copies and put them in front so that everybody could see it. The “cream de la cream” was when I once put the game in front and someone was looking to the games also. He asked me what I was doing. I explained what a wonderful game was. And wonder by wonders he took the game with him! And I felt so good with it. Why? I don't know really. But maybe I got the feeling that deserved a lot better then the treatment of CDV. i saw an article in Pc game play once. and it brought my attention Then i saw some specials on www.spelletjesgarnaal.be and shrimpTV. then i whent on the forum and felt the warmd radiating from it. And a crazy fan was born

When talking to ppl. Online and in RL. And the subject of puters or software comes up, I always seem to find a way to mention Larian or . Even when we're not talking about games.

Mouth to mouth speaking: I just had 2 visitors here - showed a few game locations, butchered the guards, went shopping, showed them spell effects - they were fascinated, thought it was new - they're going to buy it, hope they're lucky (German version). Hey, could someone replace the word "Energizer" on the picture with "Divinity" ? Or "Larian" ?

That is fantastic! Yesterday we went on a special shopping trip to a new shopping mall. In that mall they had a E.B.Games. I was looking for a PS game Gauntlet-They didn't have it. Anyway when I turned around, my friend JR. was bowing and chanting tworeds the P.C. section. I asked him what he was doing , and he said "Just look!" There were 2 copies of prominently faced out on the shelf that he was paying homage to! LOL! The next thing you knew all 4 of us were paying homage! We then all stroked the covers and left the store. Many patrons were scratching their heads, and walking that way! Yes, insane fanbase!
