Riftrunner will be available for PC CD-ROM in February 2003. Priced Ł34.99, it will be published throughout the UK by Digital Jesters. Larian has secured individual publishing rights with a number of top publishers across Europe.

That's the UK version Barnie.
Even if it will be so expensive in the UK, it probably won't be in Germany.

In France PC games are about 50 euro.
I don't think it would be less for Riftrunner.
Anyway i think i will buy the english version, because in the french version most of the names of NPC, items and places are different "to look french" and for answering questions in english, it's not so easy.

I never bought a CD in the UK. But they have a higher tax on luxery goods in the UK than on the European mainland.
So I'm guessing CD's are more expensive there too.
And I remember CD's being cheaper in Germany. Years ago we regularly went to Germany. Just to go CD shopping. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Do the german shops sell english version of the games ?

In France we only can buy french versions in the ordinary shops.
when somebody wants an english version, he has to buy it by internet or to go in special shops which sell "import games" and it is a lot more expensive than the french version.

Seth i can't go to Germany to do my shopping <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Speaking of UK, unfortunately there are CDs out there, which won't be released "on the continent" at all. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
Here in Germany I had to import some Singles for a very high price, because they were never available here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

By the way, back in the late 90s, games were much cheaper here in Germany. Nowadays they cost very much again, Jedi Academy 45 Euro, for example.

That's still less than here Alrik. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Besides, it works both ways. In Germany you also have CD's that aren't available in other countries.
That was another reason for me to go shopping there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi Seth
Maybe in a few months, who should make a topic :
"In which country can we find the cheapest RRR CD"
Someone should go there and buy a big number of CD for all the community of the forum.

Thats a great idea, but who has that kinda money? BTW, isn't that a form of Black Marketing? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Maybe it's Black Marketing. But it is not normal that the same CD has not the same price everywhere in the world, or at least everywhere in Europe.

The differences of price are due to the editors and the shopkeepers, who want to make more money, and of course to the taxes.

People don't get paid for the same work equally over the world. So the cost for the total chain is more expensive also. And the chain is long; The bare DVD box, printing the inlays, pressing the CDs, printing the manuals, assembling everything, packaging, shipping to the distribiturs, distributing the game to the shops, putting the game on a shelf.

There are a lot of people in this chain and all want to be paid. Countries don't have equal wages and don't have equal taxes. So who knows if they earn more money with Riftrunner in the UK compared to other countries.
