From what I see now, it's
X2: The Threat .
It's the best looking space sim so far, with the most original ships ever. It's what Freelancer should've been:
X2
- DYNAMIC trade system (it was supposed to be in Freelancer but turned away)
- You do not have to follow the storyline (although you can get bored without it)
- You can exit your ship (even in space), walk on stations and such...
- You can have your own fleet (which you can command from the bridge): there's no limit on the number of ships: it can be 200 or 300 or...
- You can build and menage factories on different planets
- There are over 70 ships you can fly, from alien fighters to 2km-long battlecruisers
- Manual docking and joystick support (unlike Freelancer)
- You can convince the enemy to surrender and you can then capture his ship, while he ejects. You may add the ship to your fleet by assigning a pilot to it, or you can sell it on some shipyard. In the original X: Beyond Fronteer, a moderator claims to finish the game with only one fight (using ONE torpedo).
The list goes on, the game comes in november, if everything egosoft says is true, this is the next Elite!
BTW, you can download the benchmark (in 'download' selection) to see some eyecandy.
