There is a game out now that resembles Bauldur's Gate and Ice Wind Dale..if you loved those two games that i just mentioned you will LOVE this game! It is called The Temple of Elemental Evil. Uh...although i don't really HAVE it yet though..i'm saying this out of more what i've seen so far rather than actual experience..although now i'm hearing the game is getting more negative speculation and i'm having a hard time trying to download the demo..yes,yes, i KNOW kazaa DOES have it too download but for some reason i can't do it...Anyway..just trying to spread the world that a GREAT RPG is out on the market and is available in a store near you! lol..do i sound like i'm trying to sell something? lol...of course!
More about what i've heard so far...well the game is based more on the actual rules of the D&D fighting rules...which will probably mean..REALLY BIG MANUAL! LOL, i like reading the manuals though so doesn't bother me. I also hear the game is very detailed in plot and graphics..from what i hear so far the games graphics go as far as to you being able to see your cloak move behind you and other cool stuff like pretty much controling every feature of your character including hairstyle and other stuff...if i were you and are interesting in possibly getting this game i'd look up some pictures on the internet but so far is looks really cool..and i can't WAIT to get it!

yes, thank you, i just checked it out...and alot of people seem to keep saying, "not to get it until the patch comes out"...but i STILL have to get it...i mean..i'm sure i can busy myself with something else until this patch does come out...but until then, i'm sure i could figure out most of the problems..some of the problems..or bugs..from DD i figured out by myself.

I don't see a reason to rush and buy bugged game. There are so many excellent games around and still to come in the nearest future, but, if you want RPG and want it now I think you only can choose from TOEE or Lionheart.
I be playin' Homeworld2 and i be happy with it.

Have you tried Arx Fatalis, Raven? I enjoy it pretty much. I haven't needed a patch for it yet! The game doesn't go by D&D rules, but it's pretty cool.

yes i did, unfortunately for me..since i really don't like those 1st person shooter types..man that rat guy in the beginning totally kicked my butt and he was really annoying! I have my sights on this new game...it's what i'm looking for in a game if you know what i mean..but i'm glad you thought it was interesting..lion heart sounded good too at first..but was WAY too hard..and i can't do it as a mage..everyone hated me so prices were too high.

That is why Azrael Tear was the first and the last first person I ever played and ever liked. Today I cannot replay Azrael Tear only because it is first person beside the very low resolution compared to what we have today available.

Arx Fatalis might be everything but not a FPS. Note that it's the first game I saw, where you cannot compare the weakest attack with the strongerst: For example: at the beguinning, if you attack the goblin with the attack meter barely lit, you will simply die: those attack do no damage. But if you use the strongest attacks, you could defeat the goblin in 2 hits. It's very realistic: one strong overhead strike with a club will do more damage than simply a poke (which shouldn't damage at all).

Eh, isn't Morrowind's combat much the same? The longer you hold down the mouse, the harder you hit.
I'd have played Arx Fatalis more if the first-person view didn't make me dizzy. I don't know why; I can play Morrowind and Everquest in first-person view just find, among other things.
By the way, Raven, as I play ToEE, I feel that it's more and more like IWD. And I mean that in a good way. (Two bugs I've run into: monsters in the wall, and screen goes black, but the latter only happened twice, so no biggy. Maybe I'm very lucky.)

Eh, isn't Morrowind's combat much the same? The longer you hold down the mouse, the harder you hit. It's not THAT: in Morrowind, the strongest attack (when you hold for several seconds) is comparable to the basic attack: 3 or 4 times stronger. In Arx Fatalis, you cannot compare the strong attack with the weakest one. Let's say in MW you strike for 3 damage with the weakest trust. So you score 9 or 12 with the strong attack. In AF, you hit for 1 or no damage with the weakest trust but you strike for 25 if you hold the attack for longer.

thanks for telling me winterfox! i have been looking forward to this game..but like the others say..it's still not a good idea to get a game that is too buggy to the point where you can't even enjoy it! that doesn't sound like too much a prob, as long as the important baddies don't get stuck in walls and keep me from finishing the game..then i shouldn't mind to much..on the contrary i think it's hilarious when they get stuck...easy pickings! As for the screen going black...pff...been there, done that, got the Divine Divinity tee shirt! In other words..i know how to fix that...but another thing...is the plot good? i mean, it could mean everything in the world if the plot just plain sucks..you get what i'm saying? lol, of course you do! I can't play a game without a good plot..drags me into the story line...all games should have that effect.

*secretly awaits Gothic2 arrival in the USA* Gothic 2 is out in Australia already. Why isn't it out in the USA?

I often see media (mostly movies) coming out in Australia a month or more before North America. Like Johnny English and such...

That's strange, I normally see the reverse. Games come out months later here compared to America. Prices are so high because they're always being imported. And movie spoilers are always on the 'Net before we've got a release date here.
Speaking of which: [drools][color:"#00AAFF"]Matrix 3 gold-class tickets are available.[/color][/drools]

Raven: Unfortunately, ToEE isn't very plot-heavy. I'm not that far into the game yet -- sixth-level party, completed all quests in Hommlet, wiped out the Moathouse with glee, about to begin Nulb. But as far as I can tell, the plot will be fairly typical. (I've heard that you might just have an option to help the evil guys?) But hey, DD's plot isn't all that original either, no?
DATD: Ah, I see what you mean. *nods*

hey raven, talk about lionheart & how hard it is to play a mage, yeah i agree but it isn't as hard as what i feared.
if u want/interested, i can provide u my exported mage characters so u can enjoy the game with higher level characters (level 7-10 ice, lightning). at least it won't suck as much as level 1 mage who has almost nothing offensive except his/her intentions.
anyone know anything about spellforce to say something about it?

Lionheart: Download the patch. Turn down the speed slider all the way. You should now be able to have an easier time as a mage.

Will it make you feel better if I told you that, in the game stores I frequent, there're still a lot of copies of ToEE left?
