Solution for patch and disappearing maps. If you have not run into it by now, though, you are unlikely to do so.
In the wastelands, you should have enough restoration potions you don't have to worry about mana for summoning things repeatedly. The toughest fights are in confined rooms, so if you need to use scorpion traps, they should stay in the general area.
