First post, but I have enjoyed reading for a while. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> This game is simply wonderfull, but it still has some fun killing bugs. Lately I tried playing as a summoner, when after using the "aura of command", I got this illegal operation;"DIV caused an invalid page fault in module DIV.exe at 017f:0041f733."From then on everytime I use this aura one of two things immediately happens:the game freezes or I get the same page fault. I did a search on this forum and found a suggestion from the lovely Kiya, helpfull as always, that this was caused by a corrupted scorpion and I should go back to an earlier save.I did just that and it worked ...for a while. Then the same thing happened although I took care not to use any more scorpions. So I fear scorpions are not the problem.I then tried a general advise from Raze to delete the contents of the dynamic file:the aura worked again ... for a while, then suddenly:freeze or crash again.I gave up,everything works fine as long as I don't use "aura of command",but it is a pity because it was fun to use. Would a reinstall fix this?Any ideas are welcome. My specs:Pentium 4,geforce 4,audigy 2,win98SE,patch 1.33.

Is that patch version 1.33 or 1.34? A re-install couldn't hurt. If it doesn't help, you could use iZakaroN's SaveEditor to recover the skill points you put into Aura of Command. One person managed to get it working for awhile after becoming the Divine One, and a few people have just had it start working again in the wastelands. There was a potential problem with the 1.33 patch, with games started under 1.29/1.32; Map has gone back to black / Solution for patch and disappearing maps. If you have not run into it by now, though, you are unlikely to do so. In the wastelands, you should have enough restoration potions you don't have to worry about mana for summoning things repeatedly. The toughest fights are in confined rooms, so if you need to use scorpion traps, they should stay in the general area.

I was lucky enough not to have any black map problems. It's not that I mind resummoning allies, like you said there's plenty of restoration potions, but I really enjoyed reviving enemies after a big fight and having them follow me around. It was fun to see dragon riders deal with the imps. However there's no point in reviving them if you can't order them to come along.I must say that although the game itself is a real joy,the patches are less satisfying,a lot of nasty bugs still remain: -game freezing if you repair an equipped item (to avoid:unequip) -game freezing if you click on a poison potion (to avoid:drag into inventory) -broken skills (makes using anything but a sword rather pointless) -freeze or crash when using revive + aura of command (makes playing this way impossible) I love this game so much i like to replay it,but those last two really limit the game's replay value.

I ran into a problem with Repair, but reverting to a save a few minutes previous pretty much cleared that up (I had maybe a couple crashes after that, but never bothered un-equipping thing to repair). I don't recall seeing that problem with poison potions mentioned before. The 'only' broken skills are True Sight and the damage portion of Crossbow Expertise, though swords are certainly the most available and potentially most powerful weapon.

The freezing problem with the poison potions only happened in the Verdistis sewers, but that's probably because i avoided it later on,by dragging instead of clicking(which also has a chanche to break the bottle, poisoning your avatar).I thought the damage increase of axe and spear skill was still absent.Oh I just read on one of the posts:"Aura of command (currently bugged)",unfortunately without further comment.Would it help if I kept it at low level?Just 1 or 2 revived instead of 3 to 5.Is there any chanche of a patch to really fix it?

Now that you mention it, I do recall someone having a similar problem in the Verdistis sewers. They just avoided picking up any poison potions in the sewer.
There were a couple other broken skills (expertise with fixed damage bonuses), that the 1.34 patch fixed. The Larians did say they wanted to release another patch to clear up the outstanding bugs, but since CDV isn't going to pay for it, it is a matter of finding the time to do so. Depending on the amount of work required to fix/test another patch, I would guess it wouldn't be released before Riftrunner is complete. After that... maybe.

Thank you, you've been really informative. It's logical that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" /> comes first. I will reinstall, apply the 1.34 patch and keep "aura of command" at low level to see if it works. If they do find the time to make a final patch I just hope they remember to include a fix for this "aura of command bug",since that would add a whole different way of playing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
