What I would like is when you fight boss monsters the fighting stops for talk. like in pirate movies Now and ten the action stops to exchange some pleasantries. A boss could flee the room and you have to follow, then the fighting continues. When he is almost down...or you are down...there can be another intermezzo. He could surrender only to attack you again. And so can you

More rewarding this way.

Nice, could be a lot of fun to send some taunts his way just before you check out his liver

I remember that one of the Black Ring members did that. It could be a nice twist and add a bit of variety to the final battle. Good idea!

or why don't get even a step further?
give an option for the level boss to "surrender" in some cases. the bosss could assist you at your side , or in exchange of an item give it's live back.
ofcours if you let him/it/her live, you could get the consiquenses later on in the game.
ex. the levelboss made a new army. or got's stronger.

a good example was in the game Cronotrigger (SNES). were you could choose between killing a vampire, or joining him in your party.

Yeah, such choices add to the game a lot of atmosphere. baldurs gate had such choices. You could take people in your party that were evil. In BG II they would get in conflict with eachother.

Baldurs gate series to me is kind of a great starting point for games. When I consider an idea I try to place it in a BG kind of game. I like it because of the interface, the depth, the big story, the lots of sidequests, the character development, the gfx and sound. The whole immersion and experience is rewarding. rewarding enough to buy sequels.

I have always played games. I used to have endless discussion on strategy and improvements with a friend. Like Civilization. we agreed that the best game is one you keep talking about but more importantly, build on in your mind.

Take Civilization or The Settlers. These games steadily grew more complex. At Settlers I which I playe don my beloved Amiga, I came up with a graveyard. A graveyard could be needed for soldiers to boost morale, like gold. I also considered beer for that. In later games that was put in.

Anyway, the plots of any new game by Larian should be more involving, less linearity and player decisions should have more meaning.
