The text comes up, Out hideout has been discovered, silence the intruder blah blah...and then i crash to desktop, anyone had this problem?

Try running the configuration program and switching to software mode, and maybe reduce the resolution. That helps with some cut scene problems.

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

OK I tried those suggestions and still crashed at thug camp, so i just uninstalled and reinstalled and was running directx 9.0 and changed to directx 8.1, going to try again <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Try deleting the files in the dynamic folder, then start a new game and save. Use iZakaroN's SaveEditor to boost the constitution (etc), re-load, run to the thug camp and see if that causes a crash. If so, there may be a problem with the game itself, though a re-install usually helps then. If this works, there may be a problem in the saved game folder.

IIRC, you can just avoid that camp if all else fails. It is not related to a quest and there is nothing important there.
