Thats exactly what I was thinking Jurak. Looks like a female though...MMMM. I would think that cool to have sexes with the monsters. Males stronger, females smarter! LOL!

Hey Mslynx many species have stronger... and wilder females <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I'd love to see the difference in sexes for monsters... it could add a lot to sidequests, if they reacted differently depending on your character's gender <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

You have my thought on that 1! As far as I know, no game out there has implemented gender like that. You are right as to quest and outcome. Gender could make things interesting indeed. Also to make a difference whether your character is male/female as to how the monsters react. That would be cool! Say if you would play a male, the female monster may not attack right away, unless she is guarding her young. Demons could be either sex, and always show interest in manipulation of human minds. There are sure to be alot of demons in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" />! I wonder if our Larians have implemented that? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> BTW Welcome to the Forum! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

I'm wondering as to why the Larians don't use sth more of 600->900 polygons for the models. is it for the specs?? because the HW nowadays has no prob with that amount of polygons.
I'd say throw in at least 100 poly's more and it'll look a bit more sweeter.

I guess it's that low-poly because of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" />'s perspective and view options. In an isometric view you won't need more polygons for characters, because you wouldn't notice them anyway <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

which is why texture saves the day for low poly characters.

The model looks really cool, but it seems to have two right feet. Or left feet, I'm not sure. Anyone else notice this?

I'm simply thinking the Engine is too old and not capable of implementing more polygons.

I reckon that it has to do with larger fights. They want to keep the game accessable to slower machines. Remember the Ancient Battleground from Divine Divinity ("Don't touch the stone!")? Imagine how slow that would be with high quality characters.

MsLynx, - Good points on the gender matter! I think when you let to choose something like that it must add some more to the game that only a couple of dialogues and tiny miniquest differences... at least one or two quests gender-related would be nice. Combined with the monster behaviour you suggest... well, it would make a very different game. - I also believe NPCs should react quite more differently to gender. In the kind of medieval society usually depicted in RPGs females could not be taken seriously by many NPCs... a fatal error (which can be reflected in some ways, see next lines). Say if you would play a male, the female monster may not attack right away, unless she is guarding her young. Demons could be either sex, and always show interest in manipulation of human minds. - Let's add when you swordfight male barbarians-elfs-orcs they are easier targets (since they grow too confident) if you're female. I believe hundreds of tweaks could be made this way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> BTW Welcome to the Forum! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> Not exactly new, but I forgot my login/pwd I used to have when I was playing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> let's say I'm replaying the forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

nice gender ideas, guys. females will have initiatives in attack, especially on firts attacks or attacks of opportunity. heck, make them the only gender that can have certain skills.
sure, men rocks. but women do too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

There's no reason why only woman should be allowed those skills. It should be more of a behaviour thing with sexism (eg. "A girl can't fight!"), natural insticts (eg. protecting a child), and physical/mental attributes (eg. Strength has greater effect for males, Agility for females). This could enhance the role-playing experience.

for games, maybe it can or should be that way, handefood. this is to make genders unique in gameplay & not just stats/reputation differences.
quests can be handled differently for both genders to make gameplay unique. i mean, why bother playing either male/female when u play one of them already in the game & both have very little differences? just like in lionheart & DD, there's only one quest which gender has a meaning. & even that is just cosmetic differences for DD (necklace for lover quest).
if gender factor is to be graphical, textual(in a very limited way, such as salutations) & very little else, there's no point in having gender in the game at all.
& i hope the new publisher won't boast about in RRR one is able to play any gender if the choice is totally meaningless in gameplay.
total RPG experience? larians, u can make that happen. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

way don't get any further? Like a woman could get pregnent? Our your male hero looses his hair, and can buy a nice wigg ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />
these gender features are very nice for the hardcore RPG'er under ous. but honustely, the choise between woman/man as an avatar is more then enough for me.
but keep on givin the goods idea's!
