Hi Tovi
I agree with your signature. Maybe i'll make a poll about it

"Keep Divine Divinity a Single Player game!
Keep it a real-time fighting system aswell!"

we had quite an argument about this before & the conclusion came when larian announced that RRR is strictly singleplayer only & DD2 has both single & multi-player modes.

i am a bit against multiplayer as normally i play games alone & the environment is much more controlled. plus there's not much singleplayer games around anymore or games that really put a lot of effort into singleplayer mode. most are like NWN(great at multiplayer, sucks for singleplayer), or MMORPG(plain sucks for those with 56k modems )

real-time mode with pause options have been centre of arguments many times before as well & it seems & i hope that this mode will stay in future RPGs from larian.

& thank u, myrthos for the translation. if u guys need translation from malay language to english, u can look for me. i can speak chinese (2 dialects) but i can't write any, except very basic characters. winterfox will be the one to look for.

I agree completely with Janggut, multiplayer it's not what many of us want, and it's taken a lot of quality out of many games.

But I'm confident in Larians for DD2. Just that I'll never multiplay it.

Now you're quite right here. I just can't get confident getting into a party when I know nothing about the other warriors, rangers and mages... however, with a good comunity for support, it may be even a great experience.

I guess we'll still have to wait some time, however...

Depending how Divine Divinity 2 turns out, I might just start playing it multiplayer, simply because of the community I'm now a part of. I've never played any other on-line game except for HTML ones.

referring to the comments by mr bean, yes, LAN games are considered multiplayer as well. after all there are more than one player on the same game session.

multiplayer is a double-edged sword; it can be a nightmare or already has. at the same time though probably not for the same person, multiplayer can be so much fun, especially LAN games among close friend(s). relationship is strengthened, maintained, & u get 2 hear your buds scream for help or just enjoy friendship by sharing potions, weapons, etc.... . this can happen only in controlled environment.

among forum members that i know & respect, i believe this can be achieved. but then, chatting in the forum & playing multiplayer session are two different things. who know? we have to wait till DD2 to come out to know.

I'd love to play in this community

a suggestions: find a person based on name, and also our names (forummembers) should already be 'reserved'

that's right, viper. we should have our names reserved in the multiplayer part. especially in larian server.

IMO mutliplayer with maybe 3-6 other people always beats a singleplayer game hands down. Especially when the game content is as good as DD. The problem with mutliplayer games besides cheats and griefers (people like hackers and those that swear alot in forums or try cons for passwords etc) Is how extra people actually fit into the game, for example in diablo/2 Most people just generally went monster bashing, having completed the quest aspect in single player.. in baldurs gate however, the extra players had to support the main player cos if he died you all died. Which i think is a better way of doing it, it forces the extra players to actually have a role in the game, if only to resurrect the main player..

I think multiplayer only quests, limits on roles played (ie if 8 players only 4 can be warriors, only 2 can be mages.. or something), no pvp aspect (limits griefers) single party arrangment (also limits griefers and cheats) good server controls, ie to check if a player is cheating like diablo eye, to kick or ban players... to add a password, multi must also i think allow direct connection, not be limited to some garbage gamespy network..

Please if nothing else... dont make it a gamespy multiplayer.. the gspy servers lag worse than [nocando ]

I think this is absolutely required. Especially if you want to guaruntee (hate trying to spell that word) no cheating, hacking etc..

cheating/hacking cannot be prevented, not even by law enforcement. come on, the item editor (especially DAD's) was created out of love for the game, not circumventing any copy protection there is though nothing is impossible.

sigh all u want but game is played in any way a person wants to. if u like it rough, or u like it slow, or u just like the sadistic difficulty in it, who's to tell u that it should be otherwise? even blizzard games(especially RTS) has official cheat codes for those who want them.

but then we're talking about multiplayer, right? so i'll go back on topic.

"IMO mutliplayer with maybe 3-6 other people always beats a singleplayer game hands down." rugster

well, that's your poison, dude but some of us still prefer solid singleplayer gameplay as that has nothing to do with external factors such as

1. people that u have to interact for multiplayer sessions. potential bad experience if u meet the wrong type of gamers. & not to forget, myself whose majority of friends are non-gamers, so ..... .

2. lags. there are quite a number of us who are still on 56k modem & may have no plan on getting a faster line as it's not economically viable or beneficial. plus, being in malaysia where my ISP still sucks monkey balls doesn't give much motivation for online gaming.

3. time. even having fast internet line & friends who are gamers, finding time to play together is quite a feat, especially for working adults from all kinds of location & employment.

"Especially if you want to guaruntee (hate trying to spell that word) no cheating, hacking etc.. " rugster

it's guarantee.

since multiplayer component will be implemented in DD2, i hope that they do have a closed session option for gamers who want to play among honourable players.
