I was wondering if I can learn picklock from someone again...

I have already learned it from The Owner of the Ducal Inn when I was accepted into the Thieves guild, and also after the guy in the Thieves Guild bet me on picklocking the doors.

I need to learn picklock one more time before I've mastered it, and I don't want to wait 15 levels until it allows me to learn it, so are there any more NPCs that will teach me it?

Nope, only those 2 teach you, all others have to earned by skill pts and the appropriate lvl for that. Lockpick, correct?

Oh, forgot: Some items in the game (random) have this skill also and a hearty welcome, Ueguvil

He teaches you a level of Lockpick if you loose the bet (I'd much rather have that than the money for winning).

then again... at later lvls it almost feels like a waste to spend a point of skill on LPing when you can improve more usfull abilities and i dont know about u guys but i cant find a damn thing worth buying, i have close to 400k and STILL nothing worth buying ( cept for some honey and empty bottles for alchemy ). maybe its more worth while to loose...?

In the end area a golden charms (the best) cost 50000 gp - so it's worthwhile to keep the money. I used a lot for potions.

ya i guess that would be a good reason to save your money i guess. but spending skill points on abilities can only be done after youve lvl'ed and twards the end it gets more difficult to find more experience to get the next lvl, and from my perspective it certainly appears there are endless ways to make cash... i suppose what im really saying is, im sorta dissapointed about the availability of GOOD items, either items droped or items to be bought, for example ive been through alot of random dungeons, killed plenty of tough villans even been through most of the quests that DD has to offer and the loot i think, is SERIOUSLY lacking balance for instance the pink scary looking beholder pet thing at the end of iona's dungeon is a perfect example of crappy loot and i dont know about u guys but it was not exactly EASY to kill and i even resorted to saving a seprate game when the pet had little to no life left just to kill it over and over and over to see if somthing good accually drops... after about 1000 loads what do i eventually walk away with?? a damn ruby why? because i was getting wieghed down enough allready and everything i could have walked away with was, well... CRAP.. yes thats the word... CRAP, O and ofcourse theres that set of armour in the treasure chest ofcourse hmmmm quite exciting to see the first time i thought... and im thinking ( wow lvl 4 to identify?... hmmmm must be pretty damn good... oooo goodey i cant wait to get back to town to ident this) little did i know that a set of armour wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better then that hunk of iron could be bought at the begining by the merchant on the far right of rivertown, which btw im still using... i guess my point is this- whats the point of spending the 50,000 gold per charm when you cant hardly find anything good enough to put them in, and as far as purchasing good wpns and armour... pfft dont get me started again.

Ack, what would be good for you? I'm playing mage, so I take care to have items with stats/spells/skills that help me - I was satisfied. And I had a lot of items with 5 charms to boost up what I lacked.

Or I kept stuff with skills I only needed occasionally and wore it then = lockpick, alchemy, telekinesis etc. - I spent my money on every spell book I could buy. This would be useless for a warrior, I guess. So I had a lot of opportunity to get rid of my money.

well first off i must admit ( like in many other similar games ) magic again is superior to the sword as much as i would not like to admit and in a magicians case all you need is experience and skill points... the rest is up to your ability to dance around and cast, but to a warrior his wpn and armour IS his lifespan unless ofcourse you make do with less... pause every .4 seconds to heal up while saving in battle (so you dont have to start all over again against a very difficult foe) and if you dont have the proper equipment your doing alot of pausing and loading because your out matched, not because a missuse of skills and stats but because your equipment is inferior to the task. normaly you should just leave and go to a easyer area well, in my case there ARE not easy areas because ive done just about everything else there is to be done that would be easyer... so then your just stuck using the space bar as an artist would use a paint brush touching a thousand strokes before the picture is finished... and often times you missjudge mess up or what have you so then you just do it all over again... cuz you have NO other option... there is NO other good equipment to use because youve been to every nook and cranny that you go... but with a magician you have wayyyyyyyyyyy more options at your disposal. i guess im juse dissapointed with the way they've created the loot charts and how they created some of the more prospectable merchants with gear that is... lacking of any feesable power. maybe im wrong... what do you think kiya?

randomness rears its ugly head again.

the only sure way to get good item is to use item editor. reloading will never get u satisfied as u always think u may have better luck if u reload one more time.

the penultimate is killer.

true... but why should i sink to that lvl when the fault is not with me... i never cheat and i never will, but i see your point and your right item editor is really the only way your ensured on getting somthing good... its dissapointing to know thats the truth. it just makes the game that much less fun, when they could've spent just a bit more time to balance things out just a tad . ill play the game till the end but i doubt ill go through it again...

Ack, where are you in the game? Which enemies make problems? As I'm not really a warrior expert - some fights depend on your resistance or the weapon you have: freeze? stun? poison damage?

Ever thought about mixing skills (survivor+warrior)? Even a weak weapon can be dangerous if you use the poison skin/weapon skill - and I used to kill weak enemies in melee with a simple dagger. I've had all sorts of weapons with stun, life drain, freeze, lightning damage etc.

Why don't you use the animal statuettes? Orcs don't attack spiders e.g. - you're very fast as a frog - have a good AC as a beetle etc.

I agree, you need a good armour - I didn't, but never found a mithril plate?

And as a mage I used th pause key so often that I had to buy a new keyboard: Div - (or my temper to be exact) cost me already 2 of them

Good armour has 410 AC, never found one? There are a few unique weapons/armour that can be quite good. did you have bad random luck in all of them? Here's a small list:

Mithrils are dropped by Elite orcs in the East Rivertown area adn from imps in the Wastelands
Bracchus Stormcaller armour (Verdistis sewers)
Dragon Breastplate
Silver-/Larian Armour
Vulcan axe (same location Verdistis sewers)
Mage dagger (Ars Magicana)
[nocando] Sword from the impolite knight (2-hander, near Stormfist Castle)
Blade of Chaos (2-hander, east of Dwarven village)
Singing Blade (2-hander, Ars sewers, killing reward)
Nobleman Sword (1-hander, sacrifice reward)
Sword in the Stone (Dark Forest, if you don't mind the people being killed then)
amulets, rings
Axe of Maiming, Axe of 100 Crusades (Wastelands)
God of Swords (Wastelands)
Harpoon of Atlantis (Shrimpo)
Dragon Shield (there are more good ones, but random then)
Rak-Sheen (imp castle/Dark Forest) found good plate leggings there

list will be endless, I suppose.

@ ack: one thing...

... ´s gameplay does not depend on its items like it is the case with diablo2.
The game has a lot of features which are much more fun and interesting than having the best possible items.

The game balancing is on the easy side so it is not necessary to have a sword making up to 100 damage or more. You just don´t need an armor with 400 or more defense...
...these values exist, but definitely don´t make the game more fun!

If you feel that is to difficult for you, which I doubt, I´m sure that I (and others of course) can help you!

Give this great game a chance!

Forgot: I don't know if this is random, but weapons and armour were better at the merchants in Ars Magicana after I had been in the castle or my rep went higher/their opinion about me.

What about Grischa and his buddy in the Dwarven Halls/Dark Forest? They have good Dwarven items/weapons/armour.

Did Gavanariel/archer/Dark Forest/Elven village never have good stuff to buy in your game?

what about the vampire boots (cave NE of Ars)?
Dragon belt (Verdistis)
Gloves? (Alchemist cellar/Verdistis)
Dragon gloves (SW Dark Forest)
