I almost heard an interview with the woman who wrote that, after the song briefly became very popular. The radio show host introduced the topic by stating that the advice was ok, if somewhat trivial/banal, but was not an amazingly inspirational guiding light to live your life by, as some people seemed to believe. On hearing the introduction (he didn't criticize the song, just questioned whether it deserved the praise/popularity it was getting), she immediately hung up without a word. The host's response was something like, 'well, I guess she had already done one thing today which scared her'.
