the lyrics need to be in context which is the songs melody so hearing the song makes the lyrics good because the song is good. the only reason you and many others have chosen the lyrics they have chosen is because they liked the song.

Lyrics don't have to fit with the melody well to be good, but who knows lyrics from songs they don't like, you'll like the melody first then the lyrics. In most cases, unless its just for a luagh. There are also tons of songs with lesser lyrics where you like only the melody and that's enought to like the song.
