ballad of a thin man --bob dylan
You walk into the room With your pencil in your hand You see somebody naked And you say, "Who is that man?" You try so hard But you don't understand Just what you'll say When you get home
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
You raise up your head And you ask, "Is this where it is?" And somebody points to you and says "It's his" And you say, "What's mine?" And somebody else says, "Where what is?" And you say, "Oh my God Am I here all alone?"
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
You hand in your ticket And you go watch the geek Who immediately walks up to you When he hears you speak And says, "How does it feel To be such a freak?" And you say, "Impossible" As he hands you a bone
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
You have many contacts Among the lumberjacks To get you facts When someone attacks your imagination But nobody has any respect Anyway they already expect you To just give a check To tax-deductible charity organizations
You've been with the professors And they've all liked your looks With great lawyers you have Discussed lepers and crooks You've been through all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's books You're very well read It's well known
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you And then he kneels He crosses himself And then he clicks his high heels And without further notice He asks you how it feels And he says, "Here is your throat back Thanks for the loan"
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
Now you see this one-eyed midget Shouting the word "NOW" And you say, "For what reason?" And he says, "How?" And you say, "What does this mean?" And he screams back, "You're a cow Give me some milk Or else go home"
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?
Well, you walk into the room Like a camel and then you frown You put your eyes in your pocket And your nose on the ground There ought to be a law Against you comin' around You should be made To wear earphones
Because something is happening here But you don't know what it is Do you, Mister Jones?

pints of guinness make you strong --against me!
evelyn sits by the elevator doors it's been 37 years since james died on st. patrick's day in 1964 but she could not hold it against him there were times when there was nothing she could do but lie in bed all day beside a picture of them together a picture of better days
and just like james, i'll be drinking irish tonight and the memory of his last work week wil be gone forever evelyn i'm not coming home tonight if we're never together if I'm never back again well I swear to god that I'll love you forever evelyn i'm not coming home tonight in all the years that went by she said she'd always love him and from the day that he died she never loved again
in his wallet she kept in her nightstand an a.a. card and a lock of red hair she kept secrets of pride locked so tight in her heart it killed a part of her before the rest was gone.
she said, "if I would have known just how things would have ended up I just would have let myself die."
and just like james, i'll be drinking irish tonight and the memory of his last work week wil be gone forever evelyn i'm not coming home tonight if we're never together if I'm never back again well I swear to god that I'll love you forever evelyn i'm not coming home tonight

One of my favourite German groups (Now that I come to think of it there are many German groups that I adore)
Wolfsheim - The Sparrows And The Nightingales
How long have you been free in this world of hate and greed is it black or is it white let´s find another compromise and our future standing still we´re dancing in the Spotlight where is the leader who leads me i am still waiting leaving home and good is on your side dividing sparrows from the nightingales watching all the time dividing water from the burning fire leave a light on in the night for me that i can find you remember when we both where young an reckless and so curious now you´re hiding from you child a one day´s drawing remember that you felt alive somtimes and good is on your side dividing cruelty from tenderness watching all the time dividing fiction from reality move in circles walk the line no human being in sight calm the wind an calm the seas lets try another kind of peace who fights this holy civil war a million men in uniform wo ist der fhrer der mich fhrt ich warte immer noch leaving home and good is on your side dividing presence from the history watching all the time dividing deaf men from the listening one leave a light on...... and good is on your side dividing soldiers from the fisherman watching all the time dividing warships from the ferryboat

I just wanted to warn you that the music companies have become quite picky in the last years - I don't hope they'll push in here, but it could happen.
So, please be careful with posting lyrics - rather post a link, I'd say.
I don´t think there should be a problem. After all the lyrics are either from official sites, or from the original cds. There are many music forums in which there are lyrics. As long as we don´t send MP3s in here... The thread is not made for hacking music. It is made only for exchange poetry which happens to be music too. And it is a motive to all of us, read some lyrics and If we like something to buy the cd, or learn some new groups. Anyway if Larians think that is should be a problem, I will sure close the thread. I don´t mean to cause any trouble to the Larrians.
You can have my absence of faith you can have my everything...

@Kiya: I like tears a lot, Ive listened to it quite a few times now.
@Faile: I like the words to the guiness song
@People in general: Why is it that the more depressing lyrics are the ones that stick with us?

Mandrake: @People in general: Why is it that the more depressing lyrics are the ones that stick with us? Just my opinion, strictly subjective: I think depressive lyrics (thoughtful one) touches and activates the tender spot we have inside. They trigger it and allow to express itself, to show itself to us, to rise, so we (the adult) may feel it. Lyrics are food for the "inner child" (our emotions) - and everyone has a sad, lonely, forlorn little kid in her-/himself. It's not totally like that but one of the inner fragments we carry around and often try to hide, even from oneself. I believe, lyric is a key to get into contact with that part of us, like a gentle knocking on an inner door - we normally prefer to keep tightly shut - an invitation. The sad forlorn little kid is shy and used to be abandoned. Lyric is an invitation for it to come out. Same goes for aggressive lyrics = the angry child fragment Love lyrics, humorous lyrics = the playful, joyful child fragment Kiya

Get my honey come back, sometimes I'm gonna rap that jack, sometimes (?) Get a hump in my back, sometimes I'm going over here, sometimes

Poision the well (mostly emocore loveballeds)
Nerdy why do your eyes paralyze me what makes me feel this way carry me away with silence and heartbeats as rapid thinking about your embrace and how it makes me feel i just wanna feel this way forever/sleep on portraits painted as perfect as you/why have i been given the chance to fly/when im not with you i feel lesser alone/i remmember your face imprinted on angels your voice as beautiful as the sound of waves crashing against my heart time slows down when you look at me im infatuated with this infatuated with you its so hard for me to understand why i hadnt found you before dont dull away hold my hand
Botchla but i adore her. this will never happen. but i adore her. this will never happen. over my dead body. of course i think about it. burn my path if it does. shape my body as i feel. torn. shape my body as i feel. torn broken. and if it happens. i'll burn and crawl deeper. in my hole. darkness always says hello. and your burning body will light my way. burning body light my way.
-> the emocore style of singing gives even more emotions
As friends Rust Coffee Black You like your coffee black, your neighborhood white, your lights are out at nine o' clock at night. Are you affraid of everything, or just the truth? You've got pre-packaged food, Family Feud, faith in the church, and a good clean attitude. Are you affraid of everything, or just the truth? The only problem that you've got, is the night that Wheel of Fortune's not. And the only thing you haven't bought, are the people that are buying you. You are the Moral Majority, devoid of moral priority. You are Barbie Doll sorority. You are the Boys' Club government. How we lust familarity, speedy compact portability. Every step that you take forward, is a generation back for us. We are the ugly. We are the gay, Impoverished, effeminate, and overweight. Take your consumer culture back from us. It's a [nocando] economic attack on us all. And the Football Season is the only reason you stay alive in your Prime Time beehive.
It's one of these days...

oi how can I forget bout this:
Flogging molly Drunken Lullabies Must it take a life for hatful eyes To glisten once again Five hundred years like Gelignite Have blown us all to hell What savior rests while on his cross we die Has the Shepard led his lambs astray to the bigot and the gun Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I watch and stare as Rosin`s eyes Turn a darker shade of red And the bullet with this sniper lie In their bloody gutless cell Must we starve on crumbs from long ago Through these bars of men made steel Is it a great or little thing we fought Knelt the conscience blessed to kill Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught Or maybe it`s the way we fought But a smile never grins without tears to begin For each kiss is a cry we all lost Though there is nothing left to gain But for the banshee that stole the grave Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I sit in and dwell on faces past Like memories seem to fade No colour left but black and white And soon will all turn grey But may these shadows rise to walk again With lessons truly learnt When the blossom flowers in each our hearts Shall beat a new found flame Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies
It's one of these days...

The dark night of the soul vocals -> Loreena MacKennitt
Upon a darkened night the flame of love was burning in my breast and by a lantern night I fled my house while all in quiet rest
Shrouded by the night and by the secret star I quickly fled the veil concealed my eyes while all within lay quiet as the dead
Oh, night, thou was my guide oh night, more loving than the rising sun oh night, that joined the lover to the beloved one transforming each of them into the other
Upon that misty night is secrecy, beyond such mortal sight without a guide or light than that which burned so deeply in my heart
the fire t'was led me on and shone more bright than of the midday sun to where he waited still it was a place where no one else could come
within my pounding heart which kept itself entirely for him he fell into his sleep beneath the cedars all my love I gave from o'er the fortress walls the wind would brush his hair against his brow and with his smoothest hand caressed my every sense it would allow
I lost myself to him and laid my face upon my lover's breast and care and grief grew dim as in the mornings mist became the light there they dimmed amongst the lilies fair -------------------------------------------- Short explanation: 15th century, written by the Spaniard St. John of the Cross - and this lyrics describes the love he has for his God! Loreena MacKennitt turned it into a beautiful song - I still find the way he describes his love very touching. Kiya

No offence (to each her own) that is my least favorite song off the Mask and Mirror. I do know a friend who used it at her wedding though. The lyrics are beautiful.

Winterborn (This Sacrifice)
by The Crüxshadows
Dry your eyes and quietly bear this pain with pride For heaven shall remember the silent and the brave And promise me they will never see, the fear within our eyes (my eyes are closed) We will give strength to those who still remain
So bury fear, for fate draws near And hide the signs of pain With noble acts, the bravest souls Endure the heart's remains Discard regret, that in this debt A better world is made That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate
(I've waited all day in the pouring rain, but nobody came, no, nobody came)
And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith is come That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born
Hold your head up high-for there is no greater love Think of the faces of the people you defend (you defend) And promise me, they will never see the tears within our eyes (my eyes are closed) Although we are men, with mortal sins, angels never cry
So bury fear, for fate draws near And hide the signs of pain With noble acts, the bravest souls Endure the heart's remains Discard regret, that in this debt A better world is made That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate
And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith in God That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born
And in the fury of this darkest hour I will be your light A lifetime for this destiny For I am Winter born And in this moment..I will not run It is my place to stand We few shall carry hope Within our bloodied hands (bloodied hands) And in our Dying, we're more alive-than we have ever been I've lived for these few seconds For I am Winter born
And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be the light You've asked me for my sacrifice And I am Winter born Without denying, a faith in man That I have never known I hear the angels call my name And I am Winter born
Within this moment now I am for you, though better men have failed I will give my life for love For I am Winter born And in my dying I'm more alive, than I have ever been I will make this sacrifice For I am Winter born

For the short attention spans:
Gayatri mantra vocals Deva Premal
Om bhur bhuvah svah tat savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dhimahi dhiyo yonah prachodayat
Through the coming, going and the balance of life the essential nature which illumes existence is the adorable one may all perceive throught subtle intellect the brilliance of enlightenment -------------- Her father sang this oldest mantra daily to her as she was in her mother's womb - and later on daily when she was born. A wonderful way to be welcomed to life and invited, hm? Kiya
Om Asatoma
Om asatoma satgamaya tamasoma iyotir gamaya mrityorma amritam gamaya
Take us from the false to the truth from darkness to light and from poison to nectar ---------------- for all changing periods in life - even for the ultimate - the last one: death.

Oh dear there are some real diamonds in here....
Well another German group. I liked very much their work.
THE CIRCLE NEVER ENDS-ELUSIVE
There’s a lonely room I’m lost within and reasons fall in a black hole heart on a nowhere ride through the ruins of your love Come through your pain Come through your There’s a storm in sight there’s a long black cloud Where day turns to night I hear voices calling I got nowhere to hide and you are turning away Come through your pain Come through your pain Can’t let it go I’ve seen your eyes so many times like this before here comes the rain that never ends can’t let it so I’ve seen your eyes so many times like this before Here comes the rain that never ends can’t let it go Come through your come through your pain come through your The circle never ends There’s a storm inside unlocks the sadness and day turns to night And the voices call me got nowhere to hide and I am drowning again.
You can have my absence of faith you can have my everything...

this is from chris cornell & it's called seasons ...
Summer nights and long warm days Are stolen as the old moon falls My mirror shows another face Another place to hide it all Another place to hide it all
And I'm lost, behind The words I'll never find And I'm left behind As seasons roll on by
Sleeping with a full moon blanket Sand and feathers for my head Dreams have never been the answer And dreams have never made my bed Dreams have never made my bed
And I'm lost, behind The words I'll never find And I'm left behind As seasons roll on by
Now I wanna fly above the storm But you can't grow feathers in the rain And the naked floor is cold as hell This naked floor reminds me Oh the naked floor reminds me
And I'm lost, behind Words I'll never find And I'm left behind As seasons roll on by
If I should be short on words And long on things to say Could you crawl into my world And take me worlds away Should I be beside myself And not even stay
And I'm lost, behind Words I'll never find And I'm left behind As seasons roll on by
yep, i'm a sucker for heart wrenching songs but not country(mostly) nor pop.
......a gift from LaFille......
