Ok, ok, Wild World is indeed from Cat Stevens, but ALSO performed by Mr. Big, and whatever you guys may say I like the version of Mr. Big much better. It was never prohibited to post covered versions was it? Btw, I thought it said, "My Fav Lyrics", so I don't think the singer is of soo much importance?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Scared of Yourself by Zornik
You reach for pain you reach for fear you reach for everything but nothing ever comes your way
And I'm not lying And you always complain about the way I behave without you
And last night I had a dream about it And it's very hard to stay faithful to a dream of you
CHORUS: Think about the lies that we told to each other we never bothered What a big surprise that you're scared of yourself and alone all again
You reach for me you reach for us you reach for everything but nothing ever comes my way
But you you are nothing but a state of mind from the start until the end
CHORUS x 2
(I just looooove that song, but it's prolly only heard by the Belgian part of this forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> )

Jars of Clay - Flood
Rain, rain on my face It hasn’t stopped raining for days My world is a flood Slowly I become one with the mud
Chorus:
But if I can’t swim after forty days And my mind is crushed by the thrashing waves Lift me up so high that I cannot fall Lift me up Lift me up - when I’m falling Lift me up - I’m weak and I’m dying Lift me up - I need you to hold me Lift me up - keep me from drowning again
Downpour on my soul Splashing in the ocean, I’m losing control Dark sky all around I can’t feel my feet touching the ground
[chorus]
Calm the storms that drench my eyes Dry the streams still flowing Cast down all the waves of sin And guilt that overthrow me
[chorus]
Lift me up - when I’m falling Lift me up - I’m weak and I’m dying Lift me up - I need you to hold me Lift me up - keep me from drowning again
LaFille,
Toujours un peu sauvage.

There's something in the air that greets me There's something in the air I don't know where I belong, or where does it go from here
See my dreams; they're not like anyone's
There's something in your stare that greets me There's something in your stare that tells me where I belong And where it all goes from here
I don't know where I belong or where it all goes from here
See my dreams; they're not like anyone's, anyone's
There's something in the air that greets me There's something in the air I don't know where I went wrong or where does it go from here
See my dreams; they're not like anyone's, anyone's

The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I’m one
My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin’ man Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he’s satisfied Is when he’s on a drunk
(------ organ solo ------)
Oh mother tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun
Well, I got one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I’m goin’ back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain
Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I’m one

Something completely different... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
John Denver (or the [hard]rock versions by Man-X) - Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains Shenandoah River. Life is old there, Older than the trees, Younger than the mountains Growing like a breeze.
Country roads, take me home To the place where I belong: West Virginia, mountain mom, Take me home, country roads.
All my memories gathered 'round her, Miner's lady, stranger to blue water. Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, Misty taste of moonshine, Teardrop in my eye.
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong: West Virginia, mountain momma, Take me home, country roads.
I hear her voice, in the morning hour she calls me, Radio reminds me of my home far away And driving down the road I get a feeling I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home To the place where I belong: West Virginia, mountain momma, Take me home, country roads.

I like John Denver <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Here is my favorite of his.
Annie's Song by John Denver
You fill up me senses like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you Come let me love you, come love me again.
...Let me give my life to you Come let me love you, come love me again.
You fill up my senses like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

San Francisco by Scott Mc Kenzie
If you're going to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you're going to San Francisco You're gonna meet some gentle people there
For those who come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there In the streets of San Francisco Gentle people with flowers in their hair
All across the nation such a strange vibration People in motion There's a whole generation with a new explanation People in motion people in motion
For those who come to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there
If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there

And John Denver died in a plane crash. How ironic...(see following lyric) Why should you forget him, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> Barta? He had many beautiful lyrics and a very nice voice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> John Denver Here is my favo of him. Leaving on a jet plane by John Denver All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go I'm standing here outside your door I hate to wake you up to say goodbye But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn The taxi's waiting, he's blowin' his horn Already I'm so lonesome I could cry. Chorus: So kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go. I'm leavin' on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go. There's so many times I've let you down So many times I've played around I tell you now, they don't mean a thing Every place I go, I think of you Every song I sing, I sing for you When I come back, I'll wear your wedding ring. (Chorus) Now the time has come to leave you One more time let me kiss you Then close your eyes, I'll be on my way. Dream about the days to come When I won't have to leave alone About the times, I won't have to say, (Chorus)

He used to sing songs against violence but in his private life he was violent specially when he was drunk. One day he tried to strangle his wife ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> It is exactely the kind of man that i hate. Barta

@ Barta You can love the artist, but you can also hate the person he/she is/was... Look at Michael Jackson, R.Kelly, John Lennon, Eric Clapton,etc...they all did things in their personal live that we don't like, but do you hate their music for that? I don't think so. That is only IMHO. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I still like the music of John Denver, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Eric Clapton etc...
Heal the world by Michael Jackson
And I know that it is love And this place could be Much brighter than tomorrow And if you really try You'll find There's no need to cry In this place you'll feel There's no hurt or sorrow There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a little space Make a better place Heal the world Make it a better place for you and for me And the entire human race There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me If you want to know why There's a love that cannot lie Love is strong It only cares for joyful giving If we try we should see In this bliss we cannot feel Fear or dread We stop existing and start living Then it feels that always Love's enough for us growing Make a better world Make a better world Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me And the dream we were conceived in Will reveal a joyful face And the world we once believed in Will shine again in grace Then why do we keep strangling life Wound this Earth
Crucify its soul Though it's plain to see This world is heavenly Be God's glow We could fly so high Let our spirits never die In my heart I feel You are all my brothers Create a world with no fear Together we cry happy tears See nations turn Their swords into plowshares We could really get there If you care enough for the living Make a little space To make a better place Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me Heal the world Make it a better place For you and for me And the entire human race There are ways to get there If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me There are people dying If you care enough for the living Make a better place For you and for me Heal the world we live in Safer for our children (till end) You and for me (till end)

Artist: Harry Chapin Song: Cat's In The Cradle
My child arrived just the other day, He came to the world in the usual way. But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay. He learned to walk while I was away. And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew, He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, dad. You know I'm gonna be like you."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, Little boy blue and the man in the moon. "When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."
My son turned ten just the other day. He said, "Thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play. Can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today, I got a lot to do." He said, "That's ok." And he walked away, but his smile never dimmmed, Said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah. You know I'm gonna be like him."
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, Little boy blue and the man in the moon. "When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."
Well, he came from college just the other day, So much like a man I just had to say, "Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while?" He shook his head, and he said with a smile, "What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys. See you later. Can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, Little boy blue and the man in the moon. "When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then, dad. You know we'll have a good time then."
I've long since retired and my son's moved away. I called him up just the other day. I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind." He said, "I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time. You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu, But it's sure nice talking to you, dad. It's been sure nice talking to you." And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me, He'd grown up just like me. My boy was just like me.
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, Little boy blue and the man in the moon. "When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then, dad. You know we'll have a good time then."
the thing about these words are.... i think i grew up just like him....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

In the dark Where all the fevers grow Under the water Where the shark bubbles blow In the mornin' By yer radio Do the walls close in t' suffocate ya You ain't got no friends . . . An' all the others: they hate ya Does the life you been livin' gotta go, hmmm? Well, lemme straighten you out About a place I know . . . (Get yer shoes 'n socks on people, It's right aroun' the corner!) Out through the night An' the whispering breezes To the place where they keep The Imaginary Diseases, Out through the night An' the whispering breezes To the place where they keep The Imaginary Diseases, mmm . . .
This has to be the disease for you Now scientists call this disease Bromidrosis But us regular folks Who might wear tennis shoes Or an occasional python boot Know this exquisite little inconvenience By the name of: STINK FOOT Y'know, my python boot is too tight I couldn't get it off last night A week went by, an' now it's July I finally got it off An' my girl-friend cry "You got STINK FOOT! STINK FOOT, darlin' Your STINK FOOT puts a hurt on my nose! STINK FOOT! STINK FOOT! I ain't lyin', Can you rinse it off, d'you suppose?" Here Fido . . . Fido . . . Well then Fido got up off the floor an' he rolled over An' he looked me straight in the eye An' you know what he said? Once upon a time Somebody say to me (This is a dog talkin' now) What is your Conceptual Continuity? Well, I told him right then (Fido said) It should be easy to see The crux of the biscuit Is the Apostrophe(') Well, you know The man who was talkin' to the dog Looked at the dog an' he said: (sort of staring in disbelief) "You can't say that!" He said: "IT DOESN'T, 'n YOU CAN'T! I WON'T, 'n IT DON'T! IT HASN'T, IT ISN'T, IT EVEN AIN'T 'N IT SHOULDN'T . . . IT COULDN'T!" He told me NO NO NO! I told him YES YES YES! I said: "I do it all the time . . . Ain't this boogie a mess!" just one more cuz it's so famous.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
Words and music by David Bowie.
Lyrics Ground Control to Major Tom Ground Control to Major Tom Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom Commencing countdown, engines on Check ignition and may God's love be with you
(spoken) Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Liftoff
This is Ground Control to Major Tom You've really made the grade And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
"This is Major Tom to Ground Control I'm stepping through the door And I'm floating in a most peculiar way And the stars look very different today
For here Am I sitting in a tin can Far above the world Planet Earth is blue And there's nothing I can do
Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles I'm feeling very still And I think my spaceship knows which way to go Tell my wife I love her very much she knows"
Ground Control to Major Tom Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you....
"Here am I floating round my tin can Far above the Moon Planet Earth is blue And there's nothing I can do."
Trivia Space Oddity ranks as one of the best known Bowie songs, alongside Changes, Let's Dance and Fame. Supposedly inspired by the plight of the Apollo 8 astronauts, Bowie later returned to Major Tom in his 1980 hit, Ashes to Ashes from the album Scary Monsters.
The Space Oddity music was later used by Bowie in an Italian version, Ragazza Sola, Ragazzo Solo, which appears on the album Rare.
So now i know what it all means! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
