in history our language came from the dutchman ofcours. the french part of belgium came from the frenchmen. but since then the flemish people develloped several different words then the dutchmen. i see it more as an difference in dialect.
for instance the word "coutch (sp)" (you can sit in it in front of the TV)
Flemish= Zetel Dutch= Bank
word "french fries" Flemish= friet Dutch= patat
yes , kiya, thats probably the same as the difference between the english and american laguage
